Treasure Hunting is an extremely low cost for entry, relatively low risk method of farming, with a high value on return for new and old players alike. Using macros, you can auto loot the t-hunt chest, auto pile all that loot into sorted containers at home, and then auto id/sort that loot, and sell off the garbage, and make a killing from the NPC’s. Here is how I accomplish this, solo, using a single client up to level 5 maps. (well sort of a single client, you’ll see)
I can generally farm about 80k / 120k per hour depending on the level of trasure map, level 6 maps I deem as too volatile and not worth the risk to solo for profits. The higher level the map, the better your chance for a portal focus frag (selling at 200k - 225k regularly which I don't include in those costs).
I use two characters:
a mage provoker t-hunter (115 Provo, 100 music, magery, meditation, resist, cartography (you only need 70.1 to decode all maps), lockpicking)
an ID mule character with 100 Magery, Item ID (other skills don’t matter)
Stage 1: Decode & ID the map
Pull a map of your choice level 1 - 5 – and ID the map. If you have a Davies locker, drop it in, to get the rune number, they are a big investment though (10k dono), so I use http://uo.stratics.com/thb/info/maparchive/Archive1.shtml in order to match the treasure map up and find the location. Use landmarks, roads, rivers, coasts it’ll make it a lot easier in getting the right number. Also our very own Parsnip has this one up and running - which is even better than the other link. http://map.uoforever.com/
Stage 2: Recall in, Dig up your Loot, Get out
So using a t-hunt runebook set, recall to the number you’ve ID’d. Summon your Daemon to take agro. Dig up your chest. When your spawn pops (4 mobs on level 2+ chests), step back behind the daemon, and run a macro to use skill 'provocation' - this will stop any other macros you have going. I provo the first two mobs, pull all 4 health bars up, then provo the second two mobs.. If I’m not fast enough those mobs will agro on the daemon keeping me safe. Once the mobs are all tied up (no need to wait until they are dead), I unlock the chest, telekinesis it, and get to work...
I start my loot t-hunt chest macro - this will grab items from the chest, and effectively sort it into a loot bag in my backpack... it grabs gold first... if I'm nearing max weight, I'll hit my provo macro, to stop the chest loot macro, and I'll drop the gold on the ground.. I don't see a lot of people when t-hunting so it's pretty safe, if you are concerned about the gold, open a gate home, and drop the gold in a chest..
If a mob pops while pulling the loot - which is pulling about an item every 700 ms out of the chest - then I provo it into the pack, or onto my daemon if there is nothing left in the pack... this stops the loot sort, and allows you to slow the encounter down to your speed, otherwise you could pop 4-5 mobs in a few seconds if you aren’t careful.
As mobs die, I'll grab gold, and weapons off their corpses and add the gold to the pile on the ground. You may have to stop the loot macro to do that – I loot every time I provo - depending on the level of chest, as I don’t want corpses decaying. As you go, you may have to shuffle which mobs are provo’d on which, as some die, it’ll free up other ones.
Once the chest is empty, kill off the remaining mobs, loot their stuff, again dumping gold on the ground if you get to heavy, then when done, dispel your daemon, open a gate home, and gate hop your gold pile back. You have a second before you get sucked through the gate, to pick the pile up in your cursor, you’ll be overweight as you hop through the gate. My house is set up with a teleporter tile, 2 spots from my recall point so when I get through the gate I drop the gold on the ground, step on to the teleporter, you have 1 second before you teleport to pick the gold back up again - it teleports me right beside a chest, where I dump the gold. You can also get a macro to activate a gate, so that you can be one tile away, and go through with the gold, it’s a lot easier to gate hop with that.
Stage 3: Dump your loot!
Once home, my gold is stashed away, my backpack is nice and full, I run organizers from the organizer agent, to sort weapons/armor into 1 bag, gems in a bag, regs in a bag, and scrolls into a bag. I’ve attached these to a macro, so I can hit one key, run them all, refill my regs and be ready for the next map.
Stage 4: ID / Sort / Profit!
This is where your ID mule comes into play, while dumping my loot from my last map, I run to a vendor on my ID mule, and sell off anything in his pack. Then I come home, and I start an ID/Sort macro. This will ID the items in my weapon/armor chest from above, and sort into 4 bags, Invulnerable armor, Power, Vanq and Slayer weapons. Everything else goes into my backpack and when I hit maxweight it stops, and I run to an NPC to sell the junk for PROFITS! You can often get 7-12k for a full pack of junk magic weapons/armor. When I get home, I start the ID / Sort on the next match while I run to do my next treasure map. (Dual client, but only because I ID/Sort as I go, so it doesn’t pile up)
I often run the ID/Sort mule in the background, and go off to my next treasure map, so
Step 5: More PROFITS!
All those items I sorted and saved, if you are not using them yourself and saving money, you can sell them off.
Invuln pieces I get 1.5k - 2k for each piece
Power from 2k - 5k (I manually sort through and sell the +5, +10 to NPC’s, sell the rest on my vendor)
Vanqs from 10k - 25k (+0, +5, +10 as quest vanqs – 10k each) and (+15, +20, +25 – 12k – 25k each)
Slayers from 1k - 40k (2 - 10k depending on power/vanq modifiers for lesser slayers, 10 - 40k depending on power/vanq modifiers for super slayers – if I list anything less than power, I usually list at 1k for new players – mostly I just donate them to the young donation box)
Step 6: Even More PROFITS
I put all those scrolls into a chest and I have a spell book filler, that uses those free scrolls to fill spell books.. As long as there are 64 different scrolls in the chest, spell books sell off my vendor for 5k all day long – and there was no cost to that 5k. takes about a minute and a half to fill a spell book.
Step 7: Still more PROFITS!
Those gems we set aside? There are 3 - 4 you can keep for making the special gothic chests, the rest can be sold off, for a nice little profit, considering they don’t weigh much, I remember selling about 700 of 4 types of jewels for 60k at one point.
