my post was regarding expunges comment about scripting is fun

how is my post stupid..because u dont agree? u sound like the dumbass to me..

anything that allows to just push play and run around for hours working up a skill without u doing anything sounds ridiculous.

and im talkin about the ones with rails that people obviously use...walks for u and everything. I found someone doing that gathering wood the other day...so obvious

Writing code is fun. What's your problem with that exactly? Lazy? lol. I work plenty when I'm getting paid for it.

I'm not scripting animal taming or whatever so I'm clear - However I did macro up a smith and a tailor the last few days. Writing scripts to accomplish these things was a lot of fun. Probably took me longer than doing it the boring way honestly.

Sadly, I have to agree with Expunge. I enjoy taking the time out to write scripts for the tedious, monotonous tasks that nobody wants to do but need to be done. Whether it be making something go a bit smoother, or doing a few simple tasks for you...it makes your brain work a bit more, and at times can challenge you...

I see it as a problem because not only does automation and easy-mode impact economies (don't have to take my word for it, that is plain for all to see) but I personally enjoy working for what I have as it is much more rewarding.

I'm trying to help you grow as a person, guy out there content to script.

^^ I see this is what everyone seems to do. im not knocking ur creativity..I just dont like how scripts are allowed to basically automate an entire game play. ..macros seem more than enough to "assist" you..

to me they made it to where its not very hard to level up for most skills, and skill scrolls for the rest if u don't want to gain the rest. just seems that on top of all that, scripting is even allowed.....how much more do you need?

ahh well, back to actually taming.. good luck fellas

The amount of salt in your posts is unreal. If you despise scripted game play so much I hope for your sake you don't use macros. They're pretty much the same damn thing.

In fact the tamed animals you see (probably joojoo) are from a macro.

Just cause you aren't smart enough to figure out how to do it doesn't mean the rest of us shouldn't be able to automate shit that is tedious and mind numbing.

i said the big problem i have is the auto play scripting shit with rails that do damn everything for you, including walking to the next tame. how in the fuck is a macro the same as that? moron

just because your lazy fuckin ass wants to hit play instead of PLAY doesnt mean everyone needs play with scripts. theres reasons scripts arent allowed on a lot of servers, it invites lazy fuckers to come and level up super quick, get bored and move on to the next server and so on. theres no sense of accomplishment you tard. like i said, its already pretty reasonable in skill gain with actually working it up and eating skill scrolls.

It's not using rails, its path finding. It only walks to a new tame if you have one within two tiles. Sure u can modify that distance, just ask pvpeter what happens when you get caught doing that.

The automation debate will never end. You can't have some of the 'simple' macros without having the ability to create more advanced and even game breaking macros.

The ONLY realistic solution would be:

-have a set list of macros/scripts available to everyone
-make it so new scripts cannot be created
-make it illegal to use any macros or scripts that are not official.

This way everyone gets to keep the powerful but 'good' macros i.e. crafting, resource gathering, taming, etc. but at the same time we get rid of the auto-heal/automated resource gathering/game breaking stuff.

@halygon would this be possible? I would love to see a UO where they battlefield is not tilted towards those with superior script writing skills or inferior moral compasses.

Honestly, I don't think it is unless we removed all third party programs, which, would make logging onto UOF very difficult. Not to mention the built in UO client interface is horriblely outdated.

No chance of modifying razor or steam to only have those macros? Put @Adam on it I hear he has lots of free time.

Anyways, just a thought.

This sounds terribly restrictive and would be a ton of work for Adam for little to no gain but I see where you're going with this.
