One of the things I enjoyed most about the Christmas mobs was that they were tough. It was more challenging to kill them and it provided much more XP. I had fun fighting them. All of a sudden it made sense to roam places like the upper levels of Shame, even though by pure loot standards it wasn't as profitable as spots with higher tier mobs. And then, to top it off, there were regular paragons and Christmas mobs to fight. It was good times. I didn't even care about the chance for xmas loot.
It got me to thinking. With metas now very prominent, and the crazy slayer weapons and armor that we've all accumulated, we've passed up the current difficulty of most paragons. Things like balrons, wyrms, maybe even dragons would be an exception, and I think those should be left alone since they are tough enough as is. But it would be great to see a drastic increase in the difficulty of most paragons, especially the lower tier ones. And with it, maybe the same % increase in gold drop, so it makes a little more sense from a gold standpoint.
To accompany that, it would be nice to see a slight increase in paragon spawn rate, so that they spawn more often. This way, people are incentivized to farm out spawns that would otherwise be left alone, as opposed to just killing a stray paragon and moving on. This is essentially what happened during the christmas mob phase. People were farming all sorts of previously ignored areas. It felt like UO. The drop rate of paragon chests should be decreased so that the overall effective drop rate stays the same (it's fine as is).
I think the result is a lot more fun for everyone. PvMers would start going to spots that don't get much attention. Seeing any paragon would be a treat. This also means that PK's actually have to roam dungeons rather than just recall into the same spots, which is more fun.
