Fake Forum Bid Fix?

i would like to see a new system to fix people from fake bidding to make people FOLLOW threw with there bids. So they cant troll you for a week and you move out of your house, then say nope i dont want to buy it. its kind of frustrating and annoying and im sure plenty of other people can agree the fake bidding on uoforever forums is beyond the point of no return. when someone sees there "rival" bidding on something they want they try and see how much they can make the other person pay.

my suggestion is to have your ingame gold on your main account upload to a "uoforever forum currency" then when you place bids you use the forum currency and of course you'd have to make it so while your holding the top bid of what you are bidding on your gold goes into the "auction house" if your outbid your money will go back and then make it like max 48 hr auctions so no one can complain about there gold being held for a week if there top bid if they cant handle their gold being held for "48 hours" then they dont want the item that bad

I like this idea(or something along the lines of this). Nothing more frustrated than somebody tieing up a bid for 2 days then backing out.

Also...

You trying to buy something on a for sale thread and then they take it down....and decide not to sell it

How about something to keep people in check from mishandling their auctions and having their friends bid them up?

I know that there is a problem with faking bidding but there really isn't a reliable way to solve the problem.. The best thing you an do is to completely ignore someone's bids once you've encountered their fake bids before. If you do that, then next time you have something for sale that they actually DO want, then they have essentially fucked themselves because you will be ignoring their bids. So, someone else will get what they want.

People also abused the feedback system by giving negative feedback to players they did not like just because they didn't like them. Which is why I don't think that would be a good idea..

Only allow people that actually traded to give feedback to people. Make it link to a WTS / WTB / WTT post

people will still abuse this...even if we use a reputation system people will still find ways to give negative feedback just to do it.

only way (imo) is to implement an ebay style system. this would eliminate people bidding to drive up prices, or people holding to sell to certain people. you click commit, and your in until you get outbidded. will also fix those bullshit threads that have supposed starting bids only for them not to honor the sb sell because they didnt feel it was enough (then dont put a fuckin SB your not satisfied with!!)

what about an ingame auction system? also works great as a goldsink function.
Already been suggested before and was shot down by players.

This would take away from the UO style economy of player to player and vendor to player transactions, while normalizing all prices.

UOF is a custom server... so is that necessarily a bad thing ?? ;)

Yes it is. The economy is a very fragile thing in UO and I know @Shane has spent a lot of attention on various elements to make sure that the economy does not start to fail.

Make a centralized auctioning system and player run vendors are no longer needed. It will also force standard prices all around, which means that there would no longer be "that good find". The long and short is that it takes the player element out of the selling process, which in a MMORPG is a big deal.

The biggest MMORPG in the world used "a centralized auctioning system" just saying. ;) Lets be honest here @halygon... our current ##$*# up form system is also hurting the economy. There are so many alt account fake auction / bids you can't tell what is real any more. It's so bad you even have players trying to control the donation coin value by posting fake buying posts in attempts to drive the price down.

I'll add I don't have the answer... but surely there has to be something better then this?
