Fake Forum Bid Fix?

The biggest MMORPG in the world used "a centralized auctioning system" just saying. ;) Lets be honest here @halygon... our current ##$*# up form system is also hurting the economy. There are so many alt account fake auction / bids you can't tell what is real any more. It's so bad you even have players trying to control the donation coin value by posting fake buying posts in attempts to drive the price down.

I'll add I don't have the answer... but surely there has to be something better then this?
The truth of the matter is that that MMORPG is an item based one and to be honest, the auctioning system sucks on there. It is a generic auctioning system that takes the salesmanship and personality (the player) out of the whole system. As a buyer, there really is no chance that I would ever find a deal of a sale on there, nor as a seller ever be able to raise my rates and expect to sell anything. For example, a prominent vendor house now can probably charge higher rates and get away with it because they are in a good location and people are too lazy to find other vendors selling the same thing. Those vendor houses probably found a strategic location or advertised properly to get their customers. A global auction system defeats that whole interaction purpose. Interactions like that is the basis of UO.

That said, I think this is completely off topic. The actual issue here is accountability for posts made on an auction forum. Proposing in-game connections or in-game auctioning systems will not fix this issue.

We can't be off topic... the OP mentioned “auction house” in his post!

Just because a MMORPG has an in game auction system doesn’t mean there wouldn’t be a need for player venders and I am not asking to get rid of player trades. So you will always have your player interaction.

Definition of an auction: Sale by bidding… a sale of goods or property at which intending buyers bid against one another for individual items, each of which is sold to the bidder offering the highest price. This is typically not what we have happing on the forms. It's more of a $*@*$ show. An auction system would promote some Integrity… yes I know it’s a bad word but… :)

Remember people… no one is forced to AUCTION items just because there is an in game auction system.

@halygon If you can come up with another idea that will bring some accountability to our current system I'll support you %110, but I think Adam has already stated that there is no way to police the multiple account fraud on the forms.

I can tell you that we already had this exact subject come up before. The absolute best answer that was given was that the current player-run auction houses be given a formal system, but not a global one, ie, you still have to show up to the auction to bid on the items. This obviously has the downside that people post on the WTS/WTB forums because they want to get the word out without having to be in-game. This sort of process will always have its pitfalls.

Thanks for the reply........ no perfect solution unfortunately.
