Congrats, DavidE and Valentinox. Those were fabulous prizes and that white castle is stunning.
And allegedly over 50 million gold was sucked out of the economy? I dunno, that is pretty awesome-sauce, too.

i value the castle at 50mil as that was how much was spent on it by the server. the gold is still gone. some guys reportedly spent 5mil in raffles. that gold is gone from those high rollers. i myself spent 200k. might not seem like a lot however that was half my gold.

Yeah we have some really upset people that spent alot on the raffle. But that's a raffle for you, it's totally random. Of course the number of times your name gets entered the better chances at winning you have, but it's not always so.

People are upset they didn't win a raffle? Even if you spent $5M gold, it would only give you a 10% to win. I use the term "lol" often, but this is definitely one of those times I am actually laughing out loud.

I think these things are great idea's. I would how like to see a real gold sink raffle though. Make the item account or character bound...like a special title, one of a kind hair or beard dye or even an account based house storage bump. These would not create more "gold value" to the shard in general but rather be a unique character enhancing raffle

... just because it can be traded with gold in game, doesn't make it less of a gold sink.
The gold that was used to pay for it is no longer in circulation. That's 50mil gold taken out of the system... it being able to be traded doesn't make it less of a gold sink.

50 mil dumped into the raffle vendor. that is 50 mil permanently removed from the server.
if the item goes up for 50 mil at auction... that is 50 mil that is currently gone that will have to be farmed for over time again.
it works just like a gold sink should work.

I'll agree that yes it takes away 50 mill in funds from the server and thus hopefully helps offset some inflation in the price of higher end items.

Here it seems people trade wealth for tamer scrolls and donation coins and sell them at a later date when inflation cuases the prices to skyrocket further.

You mean like glacial hair dye? Yeah, I would go nuts for that. Like, mils nuts. I do like the idea of account bound raffle items. However I think the gold sink items we have had serve their purpose just as effectively for a couple reasons:
Account bound or not, people buy tickets largely because they want the item for what it is and not the value. Karl sold his Kasa, stunoma kept his Antlers (even though he considered selling), not sure what happened to the island but what's his face probly still has it.
So since people want the raffle items that have the added bonus of them being tradeable I honestly believe an account bound raffle item will get less overall interest and therefore sink less gold from the economy. Because not 100% of people who bought tickets necessarily wanted the item, some just wanted the rarity and value. And for those who want the item, being bound won't necessarily increase the tix bought by those who are gonna buy however many they are gonna buy.
