not if the chest remains on its intended position, and you just remove a piece of the barrier to allow pple to come into range.
Upon re-locking the missing barrier piece any stealth char on that tile would block item placement, all the while no further advances into the centre area is possible at any given time.

It is still active, just been waiting on the server to settle down. It is now called Serpents Auction House.
