I know from experience of taming lotsss of animals lots of times the animals are still grey when i bring them through to town..

u haul could have flagged it when he was taming it, then followed him through gate to town as hes desperatly healing it, then finally get killing blow in town...

also, there is no nightllama..

I had to subdue the lama and when i gated him to yew bank he was grey and only had 15% life.
