Tough guys killing newbies

This kind of action seems to be pretty popular at this shard and to be honest ppl who do that, killing newbies or just their pack horses and other harassment, belong to lower caste than thieves, which these ppl probably protest against too.

Its pathetic to see these coming to Minoc cave, pretending to be a tough guy and killing only newbies pack horses or even attacking these newbies. Owning a ******** way of thinking by commenting after those killings just "to having fun".

What's so funny ruining newbies UO experience? Taking away new players from UOF. I dont think UOF staff likes that.

Not like I just started here, but I think there are ppl who have started a BS/Miner as their first character, then noticing getting killed in Minoc cave, pack horses etc. and quitting the game after that. As macroing other characters I've found that pretty ******** and infamously popular.

Best part is that when a Red friend comes to check this guy killing newbies or other harassment, he recalls away like a *****. So what's the actual idea at this killing these newbie characters.

Some fix should be done for this just making UOF a better place for new players.

For me, the draw to UO is that "anything can happen" (and usually does). 99.9% of todays MMOs are some care-bear fantasy land unicorns farting rainbows BS. UOF is actually exciting!!!

I have a normal set of precautions that I take before stepping outside of the guard zone. Loss mitigation is your friend. Techniques such as making extra trips to the bank and setting a limit on the amount of resources you carry.

Lastly, plan on getting killed and losing some stuff (it happens to all of us). If you keep this in mind, you wont be so upset when you die.

Keep UOF exciting!

OP:

I was PKed within the first 15 minutes of playing UO. I didn't write a novel about it online. I seeked out a means to the end of my newbieness. Perhaps you and the other newbs could do the same? Instead of getting PKed I decided PKing would be much more fun instead.

You can thank WOW for making today's gamers trammies.

This is what makes UO great and fun. You can do anything and their are consequences.

Go back to playing WOW if you want to be a carebear

Why don't you go through the whole Rocky training montage, build up your chatacter, then come back and defend your newbie friends from getting slaughtered?

Jenny took my words. I killed a guy in orc cave other day. He had literally 11 orcish pickaxes on him which is an easy 10-20k each and he had atleast 1k iron and 1k colored.
I had no qualms killing him. Welcome to uo.
Money over everything.

With attitudes like that and people wonder why players wanted something like Trammel.

If you are trying to avoid conflict from other real players, then Ultima Online isn't for you.

There are plenty of other options - like single player games that allow you to have "god mode", whereby you can whisk your way through levels with no threat or challenge.

UOF is very catering towards the bad/whiny player who hates a challenge, since pks get severe statloss upon death. uoforever had no such mercy, but obviously during it's prime had a pvp scene 100x stronger.

EDIT, ill be on in around 20 mins to plunder. My first target is going to be a miner, this thread has given me a HUGE THIRST FOR MINER BLOOD!!!!!!

If you think 48 hours stat-loss is severe you're the one who needs to find another game to play.

Quake III was pretty fun...all PVP, no stat-loss. Good times. Of course there were no miners or afk macroers to kill...

I have terrible news all:

Upon search of my quest to slay 1 miner loaded with metals, i ran into distractions: a blue bard archer killing frost trolls and a horrible red mage*, both were killed , but at this stage a miner of significance has yet to be discovered.

to be continued....

*no statloss was incurred, a fee of 1gd was negotiated.

Yep, PKs are abundant on this server. As you can see, they're the ones replying to this thread "go back to wow, noob lulz, /epeen." Over the past week I've noticed these topics are starting up more and more. It's obvious there's an issue. The ones causing the current predicament though are quick to judge.

Most of here seem to miss the point. Its not me being a newbie (obviously I'm kinda newbie at this shard, 2 months playing, but still..), more like some of the new players I'm worried about. New players, who wish to start playing UO very first time, or just new to this shard. I can just imagine their letdowns, when some players act like idiots.

I'd not want to give new players such a bad experience about playing UO.

There was a reason, why Minoc cave was guardzoned at some shards.

Money over everything.

Rofl. Money doesn't give you love.

You say that like we're all reds in cahoots with each other, united against the newbies to grief them. PK's get killed just as much as anyone, and when they do they get statted. The reason we're against guardzoning everything in sight is because the point of UO is that you can do almost anything, and you're not restricted like in every other MMO. You make whatever kind of character you want then go out into the world and do anything, instead of picking a class then following a linear path to max level where you have to farm gear for months before you even have a chance.

TL;DR: Embrace the challenge. If you don't want to be killed then learn to defend yourself or recall away. Learning to overcome adversity is what makes the game fun, not how many pixels you can mine.
