I'll try and put this in words....
So this may not even be possible but...
You would have the original thread run its current course and if anyone wanted to respond to something else, there would be @Harry Berries an option for a drop down post. This would still allow for funny, random or other posts while leaving the original thread intact.
It would he a person's choice to click the open post button, which would also have to be added.
So it would be like a thread within a thread
