The Magic Well of West Britain

You will find many players telling you that drinking water from the well in West Britain will effect you some how ina possitive way. But what does the well really do?
When you drink from the well you'll see a flavour text in the bottom left corner. Aside from that many players will claim that increase your skill gain speed. But does it?
Some players will tell you that if you have 120 Fishing you can fish rares from the well, some will tell that it increases your chance with drops bucause it increases your luck, some will even tell you if you drink a full 24 hours from the well you'll be rewarded somehow. Trolling I'd say.
But what does the well really do? What mysteries does it hide? What is the secret of the well? Nobody knows.

i've played here for years and i don't even know where this well that you're talking about is. probably goes to show how important/useful it is.

i read a thread in the past about the well increasing skill gain when drinking from it, in which one of the devs or mods pointed out that it does not increase skill gain.

most likely it does nothing. anyone who tells you it does anything extravagant is trolling you. same with dono vendor.

edit: i actually just noticed the well in front of the tailor right after i typed this. i'm assuming this is what people are talking about. seems pretty ordinary to me.

brilliant deductive logic. If you have no idea don't be afraid to say so.

For all you know, using the well increases the chance of getting top tier loot from whirlpools.

;)
this is coming from the guy who was told multiple times by staff including one of the devs that eating and drinking does nothing more than increase skill gain and yet still thinks otherwise. brilliant logic. better put on that tinfoil hat. sounds like a conspiracy.

oh, that old subject? how curious.

strange how staff was so adamant about the mechanic, several times as you mentioned, but then had to ask former perilous staff for further clarification when I bluffed about it. Guess they just weren't as sure as they were pretending to be after all.

fact remains, I casted tens of thousands of gates, and being completely satiated really seemed to increase the cast success chance for that spell by 50%. And what's more is that even though I have mentioned this fact several times, no staff member has ever answered as to why the spell used to be able to be fizzled more than twice in a row, and now does not happen ever anymore, regardless of satiation or any other factor. It just simply isn't possible anymore, and hasn't been possible since the last time everyone was set to 0 satiation level. But mums the word on that 2014-2015 patch I guess. Either that or they really just don't know why that happened. I'll let you figure out which one it is.

Despite all that, what you originally wrote in this thread still doesn't make any sense. You say you don't even know where the well is, then say that you have no idea what it does, but then somehow conclude that anyone who says what it does is just trolling.

Based on that, I have no choice but to assume you either live under a rock, completely unaware of the multiple threads over the years regarding the sporadic nature of patch notes and information given first to those in only the right channels, like IRC, or that you have an apparently very low IQ. Maybe in the 30-40 range.

Try mario bros, this game is too hard for you.

Yeah that's what I thought. Maybe it help's because it is a source of water? Because you gain better skills when you're not starving and dehydrated?

I don't think so because after the first time I drank from it, it told me I couldn't drink anymore. But then I went and bought a pitcher of water and was able to drink it and could have drank even more. So if you're looking to max skill gain speed, I would just eat and drink until full as normal. Regardless of what babyhanes says, I'm pretty confident that well does absolutely nothing. Chances are good I would have heard about it if it actually gave some benefit/reward.

Did a search and couldn't find a definitive answer on drinking from the Brit well from staff. Anyone have a link to one? I keep telling people in alliance it does nothing for skill gain but some people are dead set on it being a huge difference.

I will say from my experience that well definitely boosts skill gain. I seen major differences while trying to GM taming. It could very well just be when you're full and not thirsty you get the best gains.

Eating and drinking has been debated since 97 if it actually done anything or not. I myself believe it boils down to the placebo affect.

Well staff has come out and said eating/drinking does have an effect on skill gain. Only skill gain, not hit chance or casting chance. This well is different then just drinking though, it gives some silly little message.

Different well. CTF well is located south of wbb next to dono vendors. Drinking well is located south east of tailor shop near wbb.

For dumping bone armor in CTF well, u double click the well and then target bone armors to help triggering CTF.

Yeah, every time I've tried to ask or look for into it seems like the trolls come out. Will it cure male pattern baldness? Will it provide hours of strong erections? Cure cancer?
