Taming training - stucked (no more gains)

I've been training creatures in the woods until now, basically everything but mostly timber wolves, bears, large cats and stuff. Until now it has worked great and I'm at exactly 70. However, after I hit 70 I haven't been able to get a single .1 gain (has gone more than 1 hour).

I'm not capped, I'm fully fed and watered and I've tamed very efficient (no running around looking for creatures). Last half hour I've been trying on polar bears, walruses and bears on dagger isle but still no gain so I've started to wonder if something is wrong here?

Is 70 some magic level where taming gains suddenly are very hard to get?
Am I doing it wrong (i.e should I stop taming the easy tamed animals like cows, pigs etc, start to focus on grizzlys and great harts)?

And no, I won't go to Shame and tame scorps. Tried that already but not worth it imo because of the lost time due to pkers, getting killed etc. I also find taming training in the woods more relaxing and I like to explore the world instead of staying in one spot for houndreds of hours.

Thanks!

you should def not be taming pigs/cows at 70 but should still be able to gain on higher end forrest mobs polar bears ect. i would goto shame for scoprs(pks) Fire dungeon for hellcats or maybe try dagger isle and just tame everything u can.

Great hearts/grizzlys are great but maybe still alot of fails idk give em a try (moonglow moongate)

it is slow and only gonna get slower goodluck

Tried scorps in Shame again and 3 gains in 10 minutes (after that I got pked). Maybe I should reconsider my plans ;-)

If anyone knows of a better, less (pk) crowdy place for taming scorpions than Shame, please let me know!

COmpassion desert is good man. Even without the dungeon skill gain bonus, it gains good and there a lot of them. When the spawn is busy, go east to the forest, look for bears and when you can tame them, GREAT HARTS are your friend

Had the same problem, even with the skill boost going on today, an hour of taming with no skill gains. My animal lore went up 5%, but taming stayed static.

Have tried Compassion desert but can't see how one can train there efficiently. I mean, there's like 4 hell hounds, 3 hell cats, 5 trolls and 3 snakes per scorpion.. :(

It seems like taming gains slow waaaay down at certain points. Try to find second tames of the animals you're currently on. For me, that seemed to give me the boost I needed to get my skill high enough to move on to more challenging things.

Yeah, second tames really gives me boost right now. I'm at 72.5 right now and even though it's tedious it's rewarding in the same time. The blue text telling me I have gained is a rewarding feeling :)

pks are everywhere man, and now they go there even more because they know new tamers go there a lot. shame is best spot hands down, pks or not. there is 9 scorps in that 1 spot with only 1 eart ele that spawns there, it will not get any easier than that. taming is boring, slow, repetitive...and for a reason. its a hard skill to level up..u gotta put ur head down and go to work, its not fun by any means.

scorps to 78-80, then small hell cats

Only 275 more gains to gm! Lol

This with taming scorps in dungeon... Ok for +50% gain speed but the taming speed is like -100% because the need of moving them to earthies to get killed as well as being pked. Quantity must be the key here, right? Taming shit @ dagger isle seems the best choice at mid 70 imo.

Get ya a young dragon n use it to kill the scores u tame in shame. Stay there till about 83-84 then small hell cats till 91 or so. Break up the monotony with some grizes n harts. Have recall ready for pks with magic reflect up at all times.

I don't get it... met a nice dude ingame that is at the same level as me, that is 92 something. We grinded together at dagger isle and he gained 0.7 when I gained 0.1? How come we're at the same level, taming the same stuff and the gains differ like this? Been on 92.7 for over an hour now btw... :/

No idea. That would totally piss me off lol
Aren't you high enough for hell hounds or hell kittens (the smaller hellcats, as I like to call them)?
If the answer is yes, you should really be taming in a dungeon...taking advantage of the skill gain bonus :/

Yeah I might be up for dungeon taming because this sucks. 2 gains in 2 hours or something and he's been getting gain after gain.

No, he's not hungry nor thirsty. And not capped because I've got these small gains. And yes, it's pissing me off lol.

Tried Fire dungeon now for 30 mins constant taming... still no gains! I'm gaining in other skills, like magery, so it's not that I'm capped or anything. Just so frustrating... I'm giving up for now and might get back in a couple of days or something. This totally killed my motivation.

Nothing better. Run low budget, deal with the PKs, use the hallways to your advantage to escape with recall macro, and use an alt to res/gate if you fail.

It's all worth it for the dungeon bonus.
