Suggestion/Idea/Honest Request

New players and Old Players need a little bit more love on what's going on, changing, and updates on the shard. Honestly it would help the health of the shard. On a daily basis I become a tutorial and a Q&A guy for people in game and out. I don't mind doing it since I totally believe in a healthy community. However, I am not staff (even with the event staff position looming). I help these people daily and I do it out of my own time, honesty, and will power to make this place a better place. I don't play anywhere else or support any other shard. UOF is my home away from home. I know the forums have gotten out of hand lately and old moderators leave and new ones come into play. Hopefully things get settled and those who need to be punished are punished.

Tho I am all for UOF, I am not for the hush hush mode it has been in for months now. Only certain people get certain info making them more well off than the common player. I don't care if you're a millionaire or a poor beggar here on UOF, you should not have an advantage over someone else that no one else has access to. That is favoritism, neglect, and bad business. I know my "attitude" has been in question or questioned by staff here in the past. If I get banned for saying what I'm saying I'm sure those people who know me well enough know it would be a huge shame for that to happen. My intent is to help not to hinder. It always has been this.

If there is one thing that should be updated for all to see when they log in is the welcome menu.

I'm sure a lot has changed since April 3rd 2015. Updates are scattered on the forums. How is a new player or old player to know what really is going on. Official posts are either non-existent, hard to find, or lacking information.

Please. Inform the people who play here. Not just a select few. Everyone.

I believe the thing here is that the latest development are often found in IRC and not the forums. Possibly the hassle of documenting changes is a chore when the staff are trying to fix/balance things up. Any opinion from them has the concern of the need to go through Shane's nod. Tho it is correct that you voice this out loud cause i fully agree with ya, the selected few who gets to know the first hand info is enjoying themselves.

Well said. Healthy debate should never be punished. It is only when it devolves into raging and personal attacks that we need moderator action. I wouldn't worry about a ban.

not sure if its actually privileged information or if maybe you just weren't logged in to the IRC that day or whatever.

the impression I've been getting is that any behind the scenes information is actually just developers talking with the playerbase in IRC, and nobody can be in there 24 hours a day every day.

Agree that the welcome screen could use an update, but there have been detailed patch notes given for everything. they just come in spurts sometimes so that a little live testing can happen before everyone knows about it. If I had to guess I'd say they switched to this style of patch notes as a precautionary method to help prevent widespread abuse of problems with new content.

Hush hush mode deactivate!

As for being in the "IRC club" I think Hanesboi highlighted exactly why we need more up to date information available on the forums, even if he got it 100% backwards. Nobody can be in IRC 24/7, let's utilize the tools we have available to make the information visible at all times by being able to check patch notes and the news GUMP in-game.

In related news Shane said yesterday patch notes would be getting an update soon. So that's a plus.

We for sure need to change that welcome message on there though, i never look at that my screen myself so i didn't even notice it.

Thank you for the updates. Sorry to have to be the one to post something in this fashion, but it's what I do. I speak for many who for whatever reason are afraid to. Onward with UOF.
