Stealing nerfed?

so i go to do a steal and the usual hide right after, and i get a message in red letters saying i have to wait...

is this a new rule from the update? ive never seen that message before

There is a small period you have to wait between stealing and hiding it's like 2 seconds at the most.

yup gay... steal..wait for timer then target hide! no more...whats the point of even playing a thief? almost have to have a pvp thief to even have a chance

Terrible. Nerf a character than can take one item maybe 2 at best but a red or blue pk that kills you can take everything. Wtf?

Face it, shadowsteals were boring. What's the point in playing a thief when stealing anything is piece of cake? Oy King, why would you need pvp thief to have a chance to steal? Stealing is fun, and chase that follows (if it follows, loads of people just sit still frozen with shock) is even better.

hopefully they fixed double steals too then.

thief's have it good here and on most servers most of this shit has been fixed already i mean bank right after a steal how gay is that lol

Here we go....I'm just gonna make a couple observations. I don't wanna make this a thing. Stealing has been totally fucked here for so long. Here's why:

Cool down starting on "using" stealing skill being negated by holding the cursor until timer counts down, thus resulting in insta-hide upon steal...is NOT the way stealing was intended to operate.

Insta stealth, not the way stealth was intended to operate.

Insanely high success rate of steals, the exact polar opppsite of the way staling was intended to operate.

Insta bank. We all know that's a bunch a crap. NPCs would not interact with you back in the day.

Alt accts is a new problem that UOF introduced, being able to pick your alts corpse clean and being prepared for that has forced necessary changes.

Stealing can be very rewarding if you aren't a shtty bank thief/Crafter's Guild thief. It is a unique skill and one I want to be a part kf the game I really do, but within reason. Really stealing has needed a major overhaul and it has come pretty late in the game.

I welcome these changes.

Don't act like it destroys the thief either folks cause it doesn't. It just changes thief easy mode play style a bit that's all.

Have you ever used a thief? For bank stealing changes are fine. But for dungeon crawling it sucks. Some people get bored of All Kill or slappin the bass and what harm was the old mechanics to you if Im stealing from monsters. In some places its harder then you think. AoE mobs revealing mobs high clutter. Also trying to predict where the mark is going to move and no walk onto the same tile to break stealth. Easy mode brah

Wasn't really talking about thieves that steal from monsters... Sorry this effects those but it was needed for other reasons and you cant expect it not to be fixed because it doesn't work out for a small number people that steal from mobs. And to answer your question I have played many thieves over the 16+ years I have played UO and stolen from everything and anything I could. Never was it as easy as thieves had it here on UOF.

Meh. I don't see why you would ever want to steal from spawn anyway...I mean yeah it's something to do if you are looking for players to steal from in dungeons and comng up empty handed...but come on...

Just kill the stuff and call it a day. You get the full loot table and not a gimped one.

Pretty much an unneeded change. For those thinking thieves were OP before this, it's a good thing you all didn't play here 2 years ago.

So if you get seen as a thief...can't recall, can't hide/stealth, can't bank, can't use moongates, if you are able to finally hide/stealth you get tracked by someone with 0.0 tracking 50% of the time.

At least there is always the stealable "rares", pretty sure this is what OSI thieves were relegated to.

I agree with Vfinger, why play a thief and stealthly steal one thing, possibly if everything goes right when you, when you can just PK and take everything in the bag?

Exactly the thief has to work twice as hard for a small % of the reward, why gimp them further?
