how about.. instead of doing something stupid like keeping players from playing the game with your current "bounty system." you change it and give people incentive to kill players, a reward... a rematch.... double or nothing... SOMETHING... i don't get why you would put something on this server that keeps people from playing the game.

i just started a little over a week ago.. i've had my red for 2 days and thats why i play this game.. to pvp. you can agrue and say i don't have to go red to pvp but honestly its the most fun way to do it and you get much more if you're red. i could make another red but honestly i don't feel like spending even more time making a new character when i have one that is perfectly fine for what i want to do.

tldr; change stat loss..more people will play.

The overall theory behind the current statloss/bounty system is to prevent as many PKs abroad in the world. The devs want PKers but they do not want the entire shard to become PKers and change the balance from majority blue to equal or even majority red. In the old old days of UO, it was perma stat loss, which is pretty much non-existent at this point on freeshards because we want players to continue to play and not continually train. I think the devs think that the current system is a balance between the perma stat loss of t2a days and the "murderers run free" rules of many freeshards.

All i can say is, PvP is not huge here... yet. Try doing some farming -- the devs put alot of updates into farming. Not to mention, you are sure to find PvP if you go to a dungeon and try to farm...

They're not "kept from playing" but punished for their evil actions.

Red PVP is the most fun for you? Killing Bards and Tamers? Then you definitely understand why a Shard like UOF needs Statloss. Not everyone is fine with PVP and not everyone likes being attacked all the time. Statloss makes sure that also those Players, who dont love getting attacked every 5 minutes stay here and have their fun. Removing Statloss would turn this Shard into one big shithole, with naked red dexxers all overs newbs trying to get up Taming in Shame LVL1.

And what about non pvpers. Bards ect they team up managed to drop you or cal in friends bam your back 2 min later killing them again and again and again (not you personally but you know the types). i know most of us are here to pvp but its just selfish to assume the only people who play here are pvpers that want to fight you all day long. there is order/chaos Factions mayb these need to be adjusted to make them more viable options.

IMO do the crime do the time , stop dying or go play uoforever ( oh wait its pretty much dead i wonder why?)
 
Just for the record, playing a red is about more than killing pvmers. Red brings pvp...prepared, organized blues fight reds all the time.

That being said, the killing pvm chars should be punished and is with temp stat loss. It works...I agree with it. Just make another red or several if you don't want down time. A heal stun mage is super easy to build.

However, the pvp alternatives seem dead to me. Never see oranges on my blue pvp char. Boring.

Hopefully, we get the militia system soon where there will be oranges galore.

I rolled a Heal mage in less than 16 hours mostly AFK with a total cost of like 40k, arguing that you don't care to make another red is just silly with as easy as it is to make a PVP char here.

Just for the record, playing a red is about more than killing pvmers. Red brings pvp...prepared, organized blues fight reds all the time.

That being said, the killing pvm chars should be punished and is with temp stat loss. It works...I agree with it. Just make another red or several if you don't want down time. A heal stun mage is super easy to build.

i agree.
and i think people are not completely understanding what im saying. im not saying there shouldn't be any penalty... but i think there should be one that doesn't keep you from playing your character.

making a new character shouldn't be a solution to this problem. but i guess not many see it as a problem. i like this server, its just lacking on pvp and when i do want to pvp i get punished if i die.
 
Having an account of 3 reds and and account of 3 blues I can honestly say stat loss in no way bothers me. I know every time I go out to kill players whether, in a group or not, that if I die I am at risk of losing my head and getting statted. It happens, likely I messed up during the fight and if i was in a group it was likely a group breakdown. If i get ganked by like 7 blues, well whatever because I sure have outnumbered them before. Wrong place wrong time. Stat sucks when it happens to you sure but, I chose to be red knowing that if I die stat is a potential possibility. Learn to accept it.

P.S. my group goes out almost every single night and if we are not out in field we are in duel pits dueling. Win or lose, its fun. Losing heeds unwanted consequences sometimes but, "it's all in the game".

Statloss doesn't really bother me as a whole. I think the only problem is people keep posting on these statloss threads about how it should be removed or stay. It's not an all or nothing issue. With just a little tweaking, it could be more balanced and enjoyable to play a red. If you noticed in my other thread. You could simply lower the skill loss to something manageable or stop lowing the str/dex/int stats or lower them more while keeping the skills higher. Essentially we just need to change it slightly so that evil rpers and normal reds can play at a disadvantage. It would be nice to stay red with 100 str, 75 skills and stuff do normal stuff.
