Standing Forever: Empty Plots to Castles

Times are different for different people. As far as nerve hitting sure you did since people assume I own all those houses and I wanted to make it clear I don't.. People assuming we aren't active is just an assumption. Ask anyone we are in alliance with or the other guilds we have invaded/they don't know it's us.

I am all for getting a juicy plot, but how often would this happen? If a system is put in place or anything of the sort........wouldn't t hat completely destroy the market for any house that isn't novelty? (right outside guard zone, etc)

its much harder to find plots for houses since 3rd house was allowed. that created some serious housing problems in server, prices on housing section of forum shows it too.

i know some people that just dont decorate their houses and only use chests to store items. they look pretty empty but arent rly wasting space.

about those totally empty houses, keeps and castles; there are so few of them, i think they are just some veterans that stopped playing after putting that house down but keep refreshing their houses.

I understand what Blane is saying here, there is a completely empty foundation next to one of my houses that has been there for at least 5 or 6 months, not so much as a pouch locked down on it, it's just sitting there empty.

I've owned an empty castle for about 5 months now.... The reason it's empty is I haven't had enough time to move my crap in it as IRL changed. Now I've decided I want to place a 30x30 there so it'll remain empty until I save 10m. That'll take a long time given power scrolls are now worthless.

So not every 'empty large house' is owned by a bad player or VPN. Actually I know another guildie who has an empty castle because he's been too lazy to shuffle his loot over (owns house next door).....

It's not as bad as you think....

I'm told that IDOCers don't even bother placing large houses unless it's an 18x18.... So clearly house plots r not an issue.... It's just timmy trammel expects everything handed to him.

16 active paws? wow i dont think ive ever seen more than 2 but who cares?

We don't have three pages of players on like our glory days. But usually when I log in there are 6-10 players on doing various things. Seems alot are past their breaks and returning to the game.

Going back to the original point of the thread, there's one thing that would possibly help overcrowding. Significantly increasing house storage would be nice. There are many plots that exist simply as warehouses.

You can increase storage with the gold sink deeds.

I realize this. Let me clarify my position. A drastic increase in storage for any house would eliminate the need for so many warehouses. Perhaps there are server management issues that warrant a need for keeping the shard's item count manageable. I can't speak to that but if that is not a concern then I think players would benefit from doubling or tripling default storage sizes. If that's a bad idea, I'd like to know why because it seems like a positive for a variety of reasons.

i wish i had 1 large house with enough storage for all 3 accounts. the size and shape dont matter to me at all. but i do use 2 houses as storage and 1 house as a recall home/drop off site. wish i didnt have to constantly move items to the other houses. im lucky mine are close together but i dont think many people have 2-3 houses by each other.

or the least maybe make the cost of customizing a house cheaper so that there is not so many dirt plots around. something even with walls makes UOF look a lot better.

I bet a lot of players would love the idea of having one decent sized home that would serve as your primary dwelling. It could hold everything you need and have space enough for whatever else you want in a house. If you eliminate the need for so many houses then spots will start freeing up. UOF wants to draw in new players but a lack of house availability could certainly prove discouraging. Currently, a new player cannot place a max storage house unless they attain the spot by camping an IDOC or purchasing it. If VPN abusing spot horders and warehouses were out of the picture then a new player could have a shot at something other than a crap 7x7.

While I don't entirely disagree with this (a house directly behind mine has been ageless for well over year and I would LOVE to own it..) I do think this wasn't brought up because there is a "problem with the server". People don't complain when to help the server, they bring it up because they want a super cool house spot for themselves. The same people who already OWN at least 3 homes...

As I said I'm not shopping for plots what so ever nor am I part of any IDOC crews. There are the houses that everyone knows no one playing out of there besides refreshing. Ageless is a different story that's active service and shown as such. @Shane knows this full well just by checking. If you have a castle and an empty bag sitting in it and that's it for 2 years you're not wasting space?

I know for a fact a lot of people will not place at IDOCS unless its a very large plot, as the housing market is kinda for shit atm, cant sell anything less than pretty much 18x18 or close to it. This speaks to there being too many plots and not enough owners/buyers...

I DO agree with long unused properties that are NOT owned by active players being demo'd after appropriate investigations are made. Maybe a pillar on house plot that only house owner can manipulate to give ppl a chance to say so if their house is being cared for...

Active player/IP isn't the issue at all it's the ones that do not play on any account they have besides to log in to refresh the house. Houses kept up by friends I know staff has gone around in the past to clear out friends lists to make those houses finally fall. That list would be filled again if it were an active player would it not? These places are not in areas where you could drop and expand. IDOCers usually sell off the property pretty quick and won't sit on a place for 1-2 years. Houses around Brit gate that were once big shopping houses and such now are just refreshed with no active playing on the shard. Just as you can't get vet rewards in the conquest unless you have the login time.
