So, someone stole my name in game...

I'm the only Razimus, who took my name? I know someone took it because it was a name associated with the Ultima/UO community. Kinda annoying, don't know if I will last on this shard with my name stolen.

killed the guy that took your name too yesterday

Did you happen to smoke a lot of crack over the last 15 years? Cause that's the only way you could have forgotten that OSI had unique names per shard.

Uhm... I'm a vet from 97 dude, guess what, I was Dr Pepper, Lord Dr Pepper on Great Lakes, there was another guy on Great Lakes named Dr Pepper, he was also Lord Dr Pepper, he became a famous PK and everyone confused him with me, he even copied my haircut and beard exactly, I ran into him 2 times, he never responded to me. So if there is a unique name thing, it's BRAND NEW, and by brand new I mean it must have taken place in the last very few short years that I didn't step foot into the game.

Don't call a vet a non-vet, you'll get burned, I was there when LB died. I took this screen shot.

That's me saying "Indeed, mages" because LB just complimented Rainz on his amazing magical skills not knowing they would end up killing him the very instant I took this screen shot, the only shot of dead LB with his armor still on.

I am not sure what the picture has to do with anything, but you were not the only one there that day on Great Lakes.

Back to the unique name thing... are you sure you didn't do crack? Maybe just some minor gateway drugs and alcohol?

huh? That wasn't great lakes, it was the beta test. I'm done talking to you guys, you obviously are new players, who apparently logged into UO for the first time a few years or days ago which is cool, but you disrespect me, I was a Great Lord 7xGM most likely before you were born, which means nothing except the fact that there were 2 famous Dr Pepper's on Great Lakes proving the fact that the rule didn't exist back then and still doesn't exist that I know of, because UOF rules are not the same as official UO rules that I know of but I'm not about to login to official UO to find out. Feel free to update me on when this change took place as opposed to falsely claiming it always has been, are there any actual vets that can back me up? I feel this thread is me, 1 vet, against tons of noobs, who normally I don't mind, I'm a newb to UOF, but you are berating to someone who happens to be a vet with a reputation, I ran Raz's Ultima page since 1997, it was the weakest blog type site ever made but people have heard of it. I wrote the Serpent Isle completion certificate, but stuff like this doesn't matter to noobs who only feel better about themselves by disrespecting others. I don't disrespect newbs, without newbs a game can't have a player base, everyone was a newb at one time, but not everyone is a noob, for a noob is a noob for life.

No one is here to disrespect you.. we all just like to argue a lot as we get bored (not to mention they took away our R&F forum). That said. I dug around a bit and you are right in regards to unique names:

http://web.archive.org/web/20001011215701/http://support.uo.com/start_5.html

"Ultima Online allows redundant naming, so there may be other characters at loose in the world with a name identical to yours. Most names are allowed, although egregiously offensive names are screened, and a few names of important characters (e.g., British, Blackthorn) are reserved."

So although I never knew it, you could create duplicate names.

*FYI: Of course that wasn't Great Lakes as that was the widely reported incident where griefing pretty much started on UO by Rainz killing LB during an event -- unplanned. I was looking for a rise out of you, which I got.. try not to get baited so easily or folks like @Bromista will eat you alive.

On another note, whether you played from alpha to samurai expansion or whatever. If you have not spent time on freeshards, you are a noob here. The big freeshards (UOF being one of them) have pretty much nailed down what UO was and should have always been. Certain mechanics have been changed that are familar to anyone who has been in the freeshard world for a while, but those coming from OSI or coming back after a long time of not playing (except OSI back in the day) will find that they truly are a newbie.

I remember when I first started back (from stopping in 2001), I immediately created the pvp character I played and owned with on GL. Guess what? I got killed within 5 seconds of attacking a red. From that point on, I realized I had a lot of new information to learn.

Search and read the forums, do google searches, use the wayback machine and just research how everything works.

I played the first free-shard ever made, it's long dead now lasted about 1 year so it isn't an ad, was started by the guy that hacked the crap outa the beta, Jeaggermeister, (spelled wrong), he created UoX, (Ultima Offline Experiment), used it to grab the GM tools and dress up as British, Blackthorn and created multicolored dye tubs, the people who ran around in the beta w/multicolored clothing got it dyed by him, thanks to him the game became a lot more secure, I saw him once in-game as The Black Knight, he dyed a full set of plate black.

Played a dozen freeshards in-between then and now, I read that it's against the rules to advertize em so I need not mention their names, but basically every shard on the top 100, and this one was mentioned so highly on those dying shards that I decided to give it a try.

Fucking crazy sense of entitlement supported by irrelevant name-dropping and constant reminders of 1997.

We get it. Move on, bruh.
