i always figured it would be better the other way; bring weps to random CTF, but only use gm gear in league, since its more serious. Like wearing gm only armor in duels etc.

Well....if I have to stay on topic...I will say that at least for the OP there is the promise of CTF league. Weekly matches where only exceptional gear is allowed. (FYI I don't think it's gonna happen for a variety of reasons but it does show you staff considered no runic CTF)
Events have a score and rewards, this much is true, but they are mainly for fun because the time you spend "farming" event score in those events does not translate to GPs very well unless you're cheesing your score. So get out there and have some fun and if some big bully is picking on you with their big valorite runic hammer pull his bar and avoid him for the rest of the match. Go fight the guy with the Agapite hammer instead

Not sure how these Val runics work but i see ALOT of them around these days, maybe make them EXTREMELY hard to repair You cant use a repair deed you need your own 120 Smith or this shard will be over run with them! same goes for all Runic armor!

There have been three Valorite runic hammers turned in for a total of 30 weapons (well at most 29 because one is locked down in hammer form in someone's house)
I turned in the last one a couple weeks ago. I kept one weapon, sold 7 cheap to alliance, and sold 2 to Gashbert. Those are the weapons you will see used the most currently because they are fresh and the players haven't gone inactive like some that own the original Valorite weapons.
If you want to pursue the toughest BOD to fill and have millions tied up in it for months then you should be rewarded for doing so.
Other runic weapons are cheap as fuck and are almost as good.
This is a non-issue.

tbh, over time runics will become more common in the open field I guess.. People are already rockin aga and golden runics unblessed, and with a developing server it'll only be a matter of time before some nutcase uses a verite, or even valorite one (I would definitely use it in the fields, which is one of the reasons why I've never went and bought a high end runic)

I see what your saying though most my guildies have them I agree that some events should go based off more skill and the hit chance the game allows you. Then have some events that allows you to wear your own. Nothing's wrong with expressing your opinion...

You don't need high-end weapons to get top kills/damage isn't that hard. I get it almost every time i go to a CTF, regardless if I'm using my val runic spear/warhammer or just a dc runic katana.
Just sit in the middle and hit all the casters that don't move
