Regarding Bindings Of Devotion For Metapets

@Shane I forgot to ask when you mentioned in Discord that meta's no longer releasing is now live. What does that mean for those of us who spent donos on bindings of devotion, the sole purpose being to delay the release of the pet they are applied to?

I have a suggestion:

The bindings of devotion will give players immediate boost to pet loyalty and player control. Make it worthwhile, something like 20%. That way players can benefit from applying it at any time and actually cap at 100% control for a dragon and will do so earlier than those who did not choose to spend 10k dono coins.

Also, considering the fact that they were 10k dono coins...maybe they should give an increased xp gain rate or skill gain rate. Nothing insane, but maybe 5-10%? That way pets roll over a little faster or at least work their resist and magery back up naturally.

Would also be a nice way to have a bonus for your pet that doesn't involve abusing joining Minax.

And at least this way you don't have to take the bindings off the vendor or deal with complains which I'm sure will trickle in once people find out their donos are kind of wasted now. I'm in for 20k on my pair of metas and I know many others that are as well.

@eppy @Adam @JoeB @JennaL

Does this mean you can't pet trap Meta's anymore and get them to decay into eggs?

No. they still decay in houses.

I think the best option would be to remove the non decay once the server/ddos issues are fixed and return it to what it was.

Oh well that'd good then. As it should be.

Problem isnt fixed though. Not that it much matters I mean it's not a terrible idea overall. If they were gonna do it shoulda done it long ago IMO.

If it was an item for 10% more skill gain for 10k dono... well maybe that wouldn't be so bad but an item that gives you 20% more control would be like a must have for tamers and putting that at 10k dono while tamers already have to invest up to 30 mil in a single pet would suck.

Pets ought to decay inside houses: when a pet decays inside of a house, at least the captor benefits.

Pets ought not decay outside houses: when a pet decays outside of a house, nobody benefits.

The decay of a pet usually result in the loss of a player who plays/donates a lot. Accidental pet decay happens surprisingly often, and fixing it does nothing but keep the UO:F population healthy.

UO:F has enough players, but even when we're not being DDoS'd, we don't have players to burn.

Not too bad of an idea, won't people scream pay 2 win though?

Then again, some people already do and we have nothing that is pay 2 win haah.

Make them a gold sink item as well (like the meta stone). It would seem less pay-2-win that way.

Plus - dono items all seem to be for aesthetics or convenience. You can get 100% control by joining whatever faction controls the relevant sigil. Lots of players do this (as evidenced by the number of people in the PvM guild PETS). Bindings of devotion would just give you the possibility of enjoying 100% control without having to join the controlling faction.

It is a better idea than being totally robbed of Donos already spent and would give purpose for those purchasing in the future. The entire metapet system is already "pay to win" anyway, in a manner of speaking. Bindings don't have to be bought with RL $. As MZK said toss them over to the gold sink vendor if that's still an issue for people.

Now the only problem I see is talisman users not having something similar and you *may* have to consider offering them something of similar ability if this kind of idea is implemented for the pet bindings.

I like the increased control idea for them. As long as dono can be sold for gold its not really pay to win. Like already suggested, move it to a gold sink if you want to eliminate that issue.

You could also just make it really simple and give a refund or trade it for a different item of equal or lesser value.

Yeah that's definitely the easiest thing to do; just refund the dono.

That said, they weren't sold with the guarantee that they would provide extra-value forever or your money back. Asking for a refund seems like asking for too much.

Normally I would agree but they just added that item a few months ago and then made it obsolete

Have they at least disabled the ability to buy the drop rate increase RDA gem upgrade?

First step to do is disable the ability to purchase these items rendered obsolete until they are fixed IMO. If tweaked, then re-add.
