Quests, BODs, Boats, Housing

I know very little about all 4 of these things, and I would like to know if there's a centralized body of knowledge where I can learn all there is to know?

Especially housing, I've never played UO successfully enough to even care about housing, but I'm getting the hang of it this time around and I don't know the first thing about it.

Keep in mind, I will check the New Player Questions forum frequently for learning, but just wanting to know if there's a spot where everything is condensed already.

There aren't any quests right now (Hag Quest was taken out).

BOD information can be ascertained from UOGuide, as it's relatively accurate, and in the crafting section of the forums.

Housing is 1 house per account (so two if you have your two accounts); you can be co-owned to as many houses as you'd like. House deeds from NPCs can be cheaper (or more expensive) depending on the city's faction taxes. If you buy a classic house (deed or placement tool) and demolish the house, you get a deed back, which can be sold back to the NPCs for pennies on the dollar, and you cannot customize them. You're better off getting a cheap, cheap classic house to start, and stick with it, then upgrade to a custom house instead of buying larger and larger classics.

Edit: One thing I forgot to mention is you need a total of 1200 skill points accumulated on an account plus like 24-48 hours total playtime to place a house on that account.

Boats are not secure, or at least not as secure, as you think. Given the right circumstances, people can board them. You can make a butt ton of money and gain some really cool rares from fishing, though. The key thing to remember here is that fishing is an investment, much like taming, and can earn you a similar amount of gold (credit to @Olivier for a fantastic job). With the new expansion coming out, you'll see a lot more pirates out at sea who have the hopes of taking prizes and sinking ships.

So what's up with IDOCs ? I saw the server IDOC event yesterday, I went thru the wrong portal and our house had nothing lol. Does the server always announce IDOC or is it just something to go house to house looking for IDOCs. And also how do you prevent your own house going IDOC?
