Question about not paying up on forums.

Its shady but there's no way to police it except to let ppl know who doesn't honor their bids and then the community reacts or not.

yes I started a thread for this same issue

its getting ridiculous. ..a bid can drag out a sale then when they dont pay up....start again. these people should be suspended from buying/selling. maybe they will stop..

like a temp ban..then eventually permanent ban from that part of the forum

In game auction system......... I'm sure Adam is brilliant enough to make this happen?
...This has been done in the past in other games. Player vendors/auctions will become useless as all items will just be posted on the auction system for people to search through and bid. It also ruins the chance at getting that great deal by running across a vendor that has marked down an item to move it quickly.

I don't think this makes sense in UO unless it is just a way to assist player-ran auction houses and not a universal auction system.

Yeah I see your point but the forms and irc are also taking away from those very things you mentioned. The problems with the forms is there is no integrity. Maybe an in game auction system that caps the # of items each account can sell? That way the need for venders and auctions houses will still exist.

As for the player run auction I'm not that familiar with their systems but I would assume they run an hour or two at the most? Are players using these to sell their high end items?

I always liked their system :/
Worked well for selling things that are hard to price...like weps and armor.

My point is just that any selling systems that take player interactivity out of the equation makes for a poor UO mechanic. These type of auction systems tend to normalize prices everywhere, reduce the value of premium housing locations, and really impact the economy as a whole.

Can we implement more rules regarding buying/selling items on the forum? Possibly.

u have a good point. ..just like that site that had everything a vendor was selling...all u had to do was search what ur looking for and go buy it. it was convenient but took away people actually playing. the forums "sort of" do the same thing just not to that extent.

If you are having trouble with forums I am glad to help you. I dont think any more staff interaction is required as it takes away from in game play and interaction. Ive been running the auction house since August and i still have problems with trolls and nonpayment. We still manage to sell 2mil worth of player inventory on average and have a pretty good following. Pm me if you need tips or help getting buyers that actually pay http://www.uoforum.com/threads/serp...day-january-8th-9-30pm-cst.50374/#post-325906.
