It is 90-GM or 95-GM for Valorite BODs. The only thing power scrolls (105-120) do is supposedly increase the chance for an LBOD. Others will claim that it also increases the chance for exceptional BODs... none of which has been confirmed.
Actually that's only somewhat true. Staff has confirmed that the higher the BS skill the higher your chance to pull both exceptional deeds as well as LBODs. Color of deeds is random and the same regardless of skill. I wanna say that count is random also but I could be wrong about that one, it's the only variable I'm not 100% sure on.
You can definitely pull valorite hammer large or small BODs with GM skill. I think 90 is about the minimum but obviously take your BS and tailor skills as high as you can. My three BOD runners all have 120/120 because being 120 also gives you 5hr timer on your BOD pulls instead of 6!
Plus how crushed would you be if you get that val hammer large but it's non-exc. I have had a few heartbreakers for aggy and gold hammers lol. 120 gives you the best possible chance so it's good to push it there plus the scrolling will pay for itself eventually I promise.
I actually dare say that scrolling tailoring to 120 is a better investment. It's cheaper and you get a LOT more horned kit and CBD LBODs when you scroll to 120. I have anyway. On the flip side of that if you hit it big one BS LBOD can be worth a dozen CBDs or horned kits without even being filled! Either way, improve those odds.
It probably does have something to do with exceptional bonuses, because tailoring for sure does. You don't get non-exceptional BODs @ 120 tailoring, or if you do it is very rare. I went looking through my books for non-exceptional 20x leather pieces to fill the CBD LBOD and none of my legendary tailors had anything.
You'll be out of luck getting tier 2 cloth, filling spined kit LBODs, and filling 20x non-exceptional 6-piece leather CBD LBODs if all that you have is legendary tailors. You need max 75 to never pull exceptional tailor BODs, and 85 to pull a nice mix of non-exceptional 20x BODs along with 20x spined leather BODs. Those kits create invul bone armor or fort leather armor, which I don't really mind a whole lot to lose, making them more likely to be used often.
It is rare to get non exceptional but it does happen and I remember every. single. time. haha
Oh but for as long as any of my crafters have been at any skill for pulling, GM or 120 or anywhere in-between, I have never had to search far and wide for smalls to fill my larges. I've only ever bought a couple dozen smalls and I have filled an easy couple dozen CBDs alone in that time and just as many horned kits I imagine. Things seem to have dropped in proportion for me.
Would be cool for staff to confirm what exactly the benefit of higher skill is, but yeah it certainly doesn't hurt. All of mine are GM with my main being 120, and honestly I haven't noticed a difference. I've pulled val hammer BODs on both. And unfortunately I did once get the dreaded non-exc val plate LBOD
I'll probably be bumping my gm guys to 110 soon since it's not too expensive
I tested it out for a while with a +60 ASH at basically unused tailor and BS shops. At times I thought it was helping and at times I thought it wasn't. So much luck is involved that it can be hard to tell if even GM vs 120 makes a difference. What we do know is that if you have less than 120 skill and use an ASH, it will not drop the BOD timer down to 5 hours.
