Provo Failing, yet Showing success

I have been messing around on my bard, and none of such things has happen until this latest patch. I will provo (for example) a WW onto a drake, and will pass the check, however, they still come right after me and attack. This has happen more then 10 times now, usually able to run and redo, however sometimes it will happen in chain fashion where I do it multiple times on the same creature, and will show it worked, yet they still attack me. I KNOW this is a bug, please look into this because it is SO annoying

Ever rifled through long tech trouble shooting posts; searching for that elusive solution to troubleshooting your own problems, when at the end of a nine page thread its discovered it was just user error?

inb4 someone agrees with OP.

I'll give it a shot. I'm no Provo master but I thought if you are out of range it tells you that the targets are to far apart. It seems like when they are on the edge of that range you can successfully Provo them but sometimes they still come at you.

This has always happened with Provo (or at least this era's form of Provocation). It usually happens when monsters are juuust out of range or walk out of range as you provo them. It also happens sometimes when a barrier keeps the targets from "seeing" each other.

I think it is more due to the kind of wonky nature of agro. When creatures don't have LoS and can't achieve it, sometimes their agro switches back to you; especially if they aren't damaging each other (in about 3-5 seconds) and you are damaging them.. Think about the times when you want to get two creatures, attacking each other, on different targets. If they don't get some damage on one-another at some point they of ignore the provo.

Really it can be discussed to death, but it most certainly did not come out of this or any other patch on UOF (and personally I don't think it is a long standing bug at all, just game mechanics).

Idk, it usually says they can't see, or to far... But shows furious over their head but still chases me down lol

I've done it before to a set of shadow wyrms, nothing between them, about 3 tiles from each other, about 6 from me, it shows success, they look at each other, they turn to me and sync a fireball attack at me.
SO YEAH.
It does random shit sometimes.

This is a different issue. Some of the large monsters such as bone dragons, dragons, balrons, etc have an aggro line. If you run accross the aggro line (walking doesn't usually cause a problem) it will trigger the monster to aggro on you even though it's provoked. You have to be really careful whne moving around monsters that have an aggro line.

This issue can also happen if you provoke 2 things together when they are just within range and they take 1 step in the wrong direction; breaking provoke via max range.

I can confirm this and agree with thestand. I also think it's when monsters are just on the edge of being out of range.

Also it's not that you "regain" aggro as some stated above. You always have the aggro. They run towards you and never stop or turn even if you succeed provoking them. I paged this in months ago because it killed me so many times, but obviously it hasn't been fixed yet.
