Alright guys...I have been on the server since last year and can safely say that platinum gets no love what so ever. The coins are so freaking hard too obtain in quantity. It completely baffles the mind that amassing 5k plat is equal to 1k dono coins or 150k gold. LMFAO this is utterly ridiculous!! How on Earth this ever became the norm is truly amazing. Incidentally, I am not a guy that just logs on a couple of times a week. I am in game every single day, and can confidently say this crap is hard to secure. The only possible way to get this stuff is from paragons, and they drop a chest 1 in 10. There is no other way. Period.

So I ask. Why in the hell are the rewards so lame, and why is platinum treated like a red headed step child in value?

For the record. I have collected 8k total platinum since December of last year. I am very curious on how the value system got set at 30gps per plat piece. Again totally nuts. I can easily go an entire week without having a chest drop. To be fair, I am not looking to solely hunt paragons, but they are always in the zones I hunt.

Dazed and confused......

You can get plat from events but never in great quantities. I agree the plat vendor could use a little refresh.

Well thats kinda cool that events drop a few coins. I was unaware. Still, they are very hard to gather in quantity. I like your idea of the plat vendor being updated/changed. I submit this idea. Change is cool and all, but just simply dropping the amount of plat needed to obtain items is the real solution. Certainly others feel the same.

I would really like some more active players to weigh in here. Thank you Bromista for your response.

The amount of plat needed is monumental in comparison of amount obtained. FACT. Quite frankly, I dont see how anyone can secure items from the vendor without buying plat off other players, at least not in any reasonable time frame. There may be other threads addressing this issue, but I have not ran across any. Would be cool if an admin would weigh in as well.

Hrmm. I kinda like having something to work for, that being said some of the items are way over the top compared to others. Perhaps when the vendor is updated (wasn't there a blurb about that in one of the "What's coming to UOF" threads?) there will be some mid-range items.

Re: event plat. Sometimes when staff spawns a monster boss or champion they drop piles of plat like a champ normally drops gold piles over a one screen area.

Oh I totally agree. Working towards a goal is how I view the game entirely. {within reason} I stopped playing UO in 06 after 7 years of play, some friends told me about the site via FB and here I am. HAH. The game just got too wack on the OSI shards. I am just sayin man. This is one thing that has me kinda scratchin my head. Risk should equal reward. Even if they dont come around to changing the vendor, the exchange rate is just flat wrong. No way on Earth 5k plat should equal 150k gps. That is a complete joke. My tamer or bard can easily make 150k in a couple of hours. I think any player that knows how to pvm and where to go can say that. *you notice Q is frustrated*

Yeah i wish theyd add more to vendor. Although there is two suits of blessed armor on there which is pretty sweet. Ranger armor ftw. Anyway itd be nice to fish them up in anient mins and make lvl 7 tmaps or something to get them idk

Well to be fair the plat market is dictated by the community based on the effort required to achieve and the value of what can be obtained. There for a while when powers and vanqs were flooding the server (spoiler alert: they still are) they added plat piles in their places on tmaps, paragon chests, and on monster drops. Plat was devalued substantially to what it currently is at, down from 50-70k/1k to 30-40k/1k. Given inflation and the return of powers/vanqs the price of plat should be climbing in theory...but it isn't probably partly because there's been no update in...well...ever.

I have been here for a while and i have only collected a few thousand platinum, hardly enough for one piece of armor. Was there platinum handed out in yesterdays event? I didn't receive any.

Maybe they can add a platinum title to the platinum vendor or some other new things. I already have a ranger suit so not sure what else to buy.

I saved up plat for a looong time (8 months or so) hoping the vendor would be updated as was planned. Eventually got up to 125k plat coins before I realized vendor probably wasn't going to change, so I caved and bought a phoenix and ranger suit and sold the rest of the coin.

IMO the platinum system is really nice, as it rewards the people who actually go out and farm or participate in events. But the currency is kind of wasted if the items aren't desirable or aren't being changed up enough, as the donation vendor is. Adding some wearables, limited time items, or something highly desirable like house linking to the plat vendor would do wonders for the server economy / activity (more people actively farming for plat, more trading among players, etc).

At one time we handed it out more respectively.
We plan to do so again here, why it stopped is because we stopped doing alot of the uberscript events/payouts that was causing some heavy work-load on the server (the zombie event etc).

Keep your platinum! We will hand more out.

If I'm correct the platinum amount is the same regardless of type of paragon also, right? A sliding scale for difficulty would be nice along with the vendor update.

Nah you get more platinum based on lvl of pargon chest which is based on mob toughness

You're talking about the plat that drops in paragon chests? If so, the more difficult the spawn the more plat is in the chest.
