Hi everyone I wanted to get a positive post out there what do you do to pay it forward to the shard you always here stories of greed and people greafing other players. I just want to put some positive energy out there. post your stories on how you have paid it forward to the ultima online forever community.

I look for new players in game and people that post for help on the forums. I have given lots of new players houses and gear to start them on their way.

post what you do to pay it forward to our UOF community. Looking forward to reading your posts.

I usually always try to help one new person everyday. For starters I try to set people up w/ 10k gold, a full spellbook and a runebook for dungouns and cities. This way they can move around the world freely and start making money/building their equity.

PS if any new guys see this, just PM me and I will do my best to help!

I like to steal good silver weapons and give them to newbies in the young dungeon when I'm doing the companion thing. Seeing them go from a vendor bought mace/hard fought battle to a silver force war hammer/one shot kill is always nice, and it's free for me so win-win.

Edit: I also always tell them it is stolen and encourage them to make a thief :)

After I kill and dry loot some miners I usually scatter their multitudes of picks and shovels around the bank for other newbies to enjoy

Wow I wish I met some of you guys when I started 2 weeks ago! Free houses, full runebooks, gold. Whoa.

I had to kill like 2000 skeletons to get money for my first full city and dung. runebooks hahaha! Still need a house btw =D j/k

I usually rez people who got killed by pks only to discover they were just baits and get pk'd myself.

Whenever I am filling my vendors in Yew and I see a [Young] character I ask them what kind of character they are making (mage, dexxer etc) and try to set them up with regs/weapons/runebooks etc.

When I started playing in '99 killing rats for gold in Brit sewers I met a guy that helped me out and I have tried to do the same ever since.

I have an on-going offer to anyone that if they see my character Gankware LLC and provide me the resources, I will make them anything they want for free. If I have the resources on me, I usually make them with my own instead of requiring them to provide.

*One guy got me 500 ingots and asked for several archer suits. I made all of them, bagged em, and gave them to the guy.

I've always felt that giving people stuff without having them earn it is the wrong way to get people into the game.

Leaving some force weapons or guarding armor laying around is about the best I would do. At least they had to bend over and pick it up.

Before I quit I sat at Brit as a ghost and waited to be rezzed, knowing i was going to give 1mil to the player that rezzed me. I sat there for 20 minutes before some new guy came up and used bandages to rez me (after like 10 tries) when he finally got me he got the check. He was stoked. before i quit i gave a total of 3m gold out to random players. Now im back!

Young Player Help
Giving items and gold to a new player is a quick way to ruin the new player experience for someone.

I think if you score a noobie 100k, they are going to be really grateful and you are not going to ruin that new shard scent we all love.

I am with Adam here, when I help out new players, I never give them more than 5k gold. I get them the essentials that can be really hard to get when starting out (spellbook, runebook w/ a few locations, a few recall scrolls, and some armor and weapons.) Most of what I do is just try and pass on info, for returning players I just help them with shard specifics, for new uo players, skills, stats, templates, and other basics of the game.

Most the Youngs I help tell me how nice it us to have someone talk to them and answer their questions. They tell me most people ignore them, or claim they aren't really young, or just hand them a check and run off.

Any way IMO, best thing you can give a young is your time, not your gold.

One time I was running on that path that's by the water next to the starting inn in Britain when I saw a bag and picked it up. It had a gold check, armor set and filled commodity deeds for reagents. A few seconds later a young player logged in right there and asked for it back, I gave it to him and he seemed surprised that I actually gave it back to him.
