No greeter to guide me

When I read the tutorials for new players and the announcement that pops up as a new player, it says there will be a greeter that you can say "help" to and he will guide you. I have watched videos and all of them show the guy but on my game he isn't there and I have no idea what to do as a new player. I tried running going into the dungeon next to the inn and just died instantly, and can't figure out what Im supposed to be doing.

Any advice/help will be greatly appreciated as I am really looking forward to getting in to this game! Thanks!

No not yet. I watched a few videos that showed me where the beginning armor is and I've just been down in the newbie dungeon leveling my skills. Other than that I do not know if there are quests I should be doing or if there even are quests in this game? Is it all about just exploring and leveling skills with no quest system?

Well this is what we call a open-world / Sandbox sort of game. In UOF we do not have very many quests (although there are a few like the newbie quest to get your ring and candle - in the newbie dungeon). Mostly though, exploration through the lands and dungeons are the way to get started. I would recommend joining a guild to help you learn the ropes - as UOF is huge and you have a lot to learn. Other players will be your best source of information along with these forums and the UOF Wiki.

This is not a game you can master in one day, so be patient, enjoy the little things, and do not get put down if a PK kills you - because that will happen.

also this game dates back to the late 90s, so finding general information on Ultima Online is just but a google search away.

I would advise you join the UOF irc server to ask questions. Feel free to ping me by saying "Keith" and ill give ya some 1 on 1 assistance. Also, up at the top of the page, check out the wiki if you run into a question, punch it into the search bar.
