Anyone know the history of the UO clients out there?
It seems that all the UO clients have strengths and weaknesses. Sallos is smooth and lets you set targets off screen. I like how it brings up the health bars of party members instantly. The downside is that you cannot cycle through targets like a good steam macro. Nor can you grab bars as easily as steam if you are moving. And for some reason my run speed is drastically slower in Sallos. Steam's major downside is the choppiness. Steam allows for better scripting.
The one thing all the clients share is that they are old and outdated.
There are enough servers and UO players out there that you would think someone would have developed an updated client by now. I'm wondering why there hasn't been more work done. Does anyone think that a crowd sourced client would be a good idea? I like the Steam GUI and I wonder if the best parts of Sallos could be integrated into it.
