New tamer question

As a new tamer I'm very curious what pets everyone uses. I know certain pets take up a certain amount of slots, I think we get 5 total slots, so my question is what do people use?

Dragon (3 slots I think) + nightmare (2) (ride the nightmare between fights)
Or
Young dragon (2) and a nightmare (2) and ride an eth mount (1) so you're not mountless during a fight?...
Or
Is there a better option for a newer tamer?

you can also go Dragon and WW and walk just recall about the spawns.

Or Death Beetle/WW if you get to 110 taming but 115 has better control for the DB

I suggest running around with a dragon and a nightmare. Both of them have firebreath which is extremely valuable in scenarios that involve PKs. Also, in the event that a PK throws an EV at your feet, just hop on your nightmare to get away from it quickly because you cannot outrun them while on foot and you can't ride a white wyrm.

Try to find a dragon and nightmare with high strength so that they bite hard. Other stats near max are good too but strength is most important in my opinion.

Dragon max stats:

825 hits
825 str
105 dex
475 int​

Nightmare max stats:

525 hits
525 str
105 dex
125 int​

You can swap out the dragon for a meta dragon if you'd like to. Meta dragons gain the firebreath ability and begin casting spells at stage 4. These are really a pain in the ass to level up sometimes so, if you can afford it, buy one that is at least stage 4 already. If you want to go the cheaper route, you can buy a dragon egg and begin to farm with him at stage 1.

If you are not worried about PKs and just don't care if you die to them and want to maximize your farming. Use a death beetle and a white wyrm. The death beetles do lethal poison on hit so spellcasters will continually cast cure on themselves instead of casting harmful spells on your pets.

White Wyrm max stats:

760 hits
760 str
130 dex
425 int​

The death beetle is kind of like the poor man's meta dragon except it has poison on hit instead of firebreath. I highly suggesting swapping out the death beetle for a meta dragon for PvM once the meta dragon is at least stage 5 and has at least 2 relics.
