New crafter with questions

I finally made a crafter - BS, Carpentry, Tinkering, Tailoring and Magery. I haven't decided on what other crafting skills to add yet. I've kept my crafting character at The Hammer and Anvil crafting area in Brit. I know there's a benefit to crafting there when it comes to creating slayer weapons, but is there any other benefit other than that? My skill gains are horrible even at 50. I'm following skill gain guides I've found on the forums, but sometimes I'll go through a couple hundred resources before I see a .1 gain. Should I be crafting in dungeons for the skill bonus?

For skill gains you want to do it in a dungeon and make sure your character is fully fed for maximum gains.

In the crafting zone it will take less mats to craft stuff by 20% (or more)

IE: A potion that would take 10 mandrake would take 8 and a potion that would take 3 mandrake would take 2.

So it is not exactly a true trade off, but it kind of is.

Crafter's area of Brit - Very low risk of death, Low materials cost, normal skill gain
Dungeon - High risk of death, normal materials cost, high skill gain
House - Very low risk of death, Normal materials cost, low skill gain, unlimited material pool (well as much as you have in stock)

Depending on what I am trying to do, I use one of the above methods or even a mix of them. Your main go-to should be the crafters area. You can run to the bank easily for more materials and it is a low risk area (from thieves too if you play it smart). This will be your cheapest route too.

The Dungeon is the quickest way to max a skill however you are limited by the materials you can carry, so frequent recalls to get more is neccessary, and there is always the risk of being killed by pk or mob.

Your own house is the laziest way of doing it because you can literally sit a character in the middle of the house and craft until you are GM. It will take a long time and alot of resources, but it is a "set and forget" type of training. I did poisoning this way -- man it was expensive -- but It was like no effort on my part.

Figure out what is the best for you time wise, cost wise, and risk wise.

On side note, if you have horrible skill gains, you are probably just making the wrong items. I usually try to craft things I have 60-75% success chance on.
