This May have been addressed before but I could not find thread. Do you need a meta ball to apply relics to meta pet?

Ugh that was what I was afraid of wanted to buy relics first to help level then ball.
it's not the pet ball that you need, you need a meta stone in order to apply relics and see pet progress
you should also have a pet ball because if someone traps it then it can get costly. At least these days you don't lose it completely, but it's a pretty big penalty to you (and someone else gets paid nicely if they trap it and it gets auto stabled)
