Make Guards Vulnerable

Guards in UO have always been OP. Insta tele, insta kill.

Ultima 7 Serpent Isle had it right. Guards would keep coming and coming, but you could fight them if you were strong enough.

Here's my suggestion:

Make guards about 5x as powerful as an energy vortex, both in terms of hitpoints and damage output. Most players should die to guards in less than 3 seconds. But, if you have enough players, you could fight back and kill the guards. Guards should respawn pretty quick, so the town would not be in danger for long. Also make guards instant attack reds again, like they should.

This would make the game both tougher for reds, and not ridiculous either.

One night I watched eqms kill a guard....he just disappeared. He guardwhacked someone so he was gonna disappear anyway. However they redlined him and he disappeared on the next drop.

Yea, you can't kill them :( They just dissappear. Tried to lure one outside of Brit so I can have friendly chit chat with him and he just stands on spot and gives pigeon crap about my explos dropping on him. That is perfect idea tbh, insta whacks are lousy. Drop a guard that is fast like hell and delivers massive damage, that would be more funny.

Begging.

Have you noticed that no npcs (except escorts) have any gold on them? How can UOF expect to have thriving beggar community if they have nothing to beg? :D

Camping.

Camping should be able to set traps while dismounted with a fire set.
And drink their own urine twice per hour giving +30 to any skill of choice for five minutes.
So you might be asking yourself....Well cack, I'm already at 120 in provocation....Will I still get the +30 buff.
Of course...we need to start farming staff at some point...

Yeah, camping has always need an upgrade, from day one til now.

Maybe let them craft tents for temporary secure storage/logout in the field? Purple kindling could be set like a time bomb!

And make the skill passive at GM level, so that like as the camper is running through the forest, kindling is just raining down from the trees and sparking up all its own all around him.

And for the meta-camper with the "slumber" relic, everyone for five screens just instantly logs out the moment he starts a fire, whether they've got a bedroll or not.

A little wonky, but you're on the right track! UO as a game was great but it was never finished. The release was rushed. Camping was meant to be a skill that enabled players to stay out in the woods. Rune books with recall charges completely invalidated this concept. So what can be done with this skill?

Something has to be done with camping.

I'd make it a survival thing. A camouflage that lets you sneak around the area claimed as camp. A druid thing maybe, collecting ingredients from trees and plants to make buffing brews, or lethal poisons or stronger than lethal, for food only. A skill to set up traps that ensnare mobs/players.

Um, I was joking. I thought that was obvious.

The tents aren't a totally bad idea though... maybe they could serve as a temp house with a one refresh requirement. And Dellan is on an interesting track with the camouflage..

Unfortunately I think there's already enough things they *could* do, that even the best suggestion for camping will probably be regulated to back status indefinitely.
