Lumberjacking in PvP

Anyone else think lumberjacking is underwhelming in pvp?

Lumberjacking doesn't give a damage boost high enough to make you want to use it over warhammers. I think something should be added to make it worth the skill slot. A faster swing speed would be a start. Concussion blows are nice but when it comes to special attacks its not nearly as good as a crushing blow from a mace or a paralyze from a spear.

What does every think? Add a better special attack? Add a stronger damage boost? Increased swing speed?

Cutting mage's mana pool in half for 2 minutes is strong enough especially in group fights and with anat and LJ bonus using vanq high accuracy axes it's a killer template not too mention after get a concussion off you switch to dp katana

double handed axe or double axe or regular battle axe are mage kills...HIGH dmg out put. now if your fighting a dexxer you need the dp katana or broadsword

I think lj is fine as is. Conc blow is a 40-60dmg hit + halfed mana, like vfinger said switch to dp katana when you land conc, and you should be lobbin pots like an alchy macer too. I think lj is an awesome 1v1 template and pairs nicely with a stun mage in the field

The damage increase from LJ skill for axes is crazy big right now. I don't know about you, but I have an alchy LJ that destroys. I have no complaints about LJ in PvP from my own experience.

you must be using shitty axes
lj does great damage

I agree and I love my axer, but tbh I've never had a macer before. Would you prefer a LJ or a macer? I know each has their own benefits but for all purpose pvp, what would be the primary choice?
I know theirs an abundance of mages on the shard and it feels that LJ gets the upper hand in that scenario...

I like my macer for general utility but my axer destroys mages. I see no problem with current LJ bonus.

basically I see Tard's point. I've always thought Axes should do the crushing blow bonus damage, and that warhammers should give the concussions. I think EA got it backwards.

My primary reasoning is that axes are what executioners use, so they should be number one in max damage because that's where kills are made.

Just my two cents

My point isn't to say that lumberjacking concussion blows aren't awesome. Other weapons also have great abilities like a spear's paralyze and a mace's crushing blow. But fencing and macing don't take up an entire skill slot.

With lumberjacking taking up a whole skill slot it should definitely do better than its current state IMO.

Better than 40% extra damage?

On the Crushing Blow vs Axes: The reason why most folks use War Hammers (and crushing blow) is because of the unexpected factor. Normal hits do around 20-30 damage - mages get in the groove of healing that amount -- then out of no where - bam! 60hp damage in one hit. It takes people off guard and a lot of times insta-kills them. With axes, it has big hits, but they are consistent, so there is not that extra factor to throw them off balance.

It seems to me that consistent dmg would trump big damage spurts. How fast are war hammers? It may sound crazy but I've never had a macer.. ever. Right now I have an LJ, a fencer and another swordsman who uses kats(noxxer). Changing up weapon skills on my axer is completely out-of-the-question because I have fallen in love with that toon.
From my experience, pvp fights fall into 3 categories for me.
1st: getting ganked
2nd: getting pwned 1v1 against hellacious pvpers
3rd: getting the upperhand during a 1v1 fight, and having to chase the enemy around forever and ever.
Referring to the 3rd scenario, playing my noxxer, using kats, it seems to be more effective as far as getting more hits in whenever u manage to get close enough.
I guess what I want to know is, what am I doing wrong? It seems like I hardly ever get a hit off using my LJ.. I'm just a desperate noob who needs some guidance lol.
It seems no faction guilds on this shard want to fuck with less experienced players so I guess I'm gonna try to adjust to play solo.

In a 1v1 an alchy LJ will destroy an alchy mace.. But in the field, the surprise of a crushing blow is devastating where a conc blow just makes them run till it wears off.

what is the technical diff between axes and maces in terms of AR depletion? I think it's in patch notes even but can't find it

Yeah, people can run off before you get a hit on them. Even if you are 120'ed they can slip away before you whack em'. I agree that LJ has some pretty decent benefits. The +40% damage and concussion blows are good. Here's a possible alternative to consider. What are people's thoughts on letting LJ be compatible with poison? By which I mean letting axes have the ability to be poisoned. Anyone think this would be OP?

how about make it so if a player dies to an axe it has a chance to do a ''decapitation'' similar to what bloody relic does :D

maybe if you have gm poisoning/gm axes they have a small chance to proc poison or whatever, that way the only people using poisoned axes need to have the skill points.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. It should require the poisoning skill.
