Lockpicking, OSI vs UOF

Make chest traps instakill and remove the ability to cast telekinesis on them, forcing you to use remove trap. Also have invisible dungeon traps that spawn near the chest locations which you have to reveal/detect hidden in order to avoid or disarm.

I'm not sure I like the direction this thread is going. I mean it looks like we'll all NEED to have the same exact build/template in order to do this future LP think.

Make it less dependant on certain skills to open up variety. Therefore we won't end up making our T-hunters all the same.

Someone did 95-gm lockpicking by picking chests? Lol what? That takes hours, 5 lp ss Are what, 100-120k? You can make that money in 1 hour with a meta dragon or 2 Hours on a bard you can build in less time it takes to gain those 5 lp points

It doesn't take hours.... it takes days. There isn't enough chests to be constantly picking, not to mention you have to move around quite a bit for some. But it was fun and I saw more "unique" things while stealthing around than I usually do. Made it that much more interesting. Being a stealther is kind of like being a fly on the wall

Took me a couple of weeks to go from 95-gm LP and I still haven't Gm'ed remove trap and pretty sure there are no scrolls for it... My stealthier is always my first char on any shard.

I have gm remove trap, once you reach around 90 just gm tinkering on the same char (like 2-3k ingots to around 80+ then 20 ss, they are cheap) and you'll be able to make a macro to trap and remove the trap and you'll be gm in no time.
You can drop tinkering after gming rt.

I did it like that and it was a breeze from 90 to gm (and like 30+ Hours of afk macroing from 50 to 90 at the gold box in brit jeweller near the bank)

I gave up on my LP'er like 2 years ago since SS were like 150k a pop for them. Came back recently and now they go for like 15k. GM'd my missing 4 points in about 10 minutes.

I agree that remove trap, detect hidden, and other skills need to be more prevalent in todays templates, but chests in general need a boost. There needs to be a greater need for GM Lockpickers. Hell, maybe even increase LPing to 120 for chests related to high end events and spawns.

I used to like this thread and the direction it was going but it just seems to get more and more complicated with every post. It's all pointing to having 1 template for high end LP chests. If you don't have these "x" skills, you will die a horrible death as if Indiana Jones missed a step as he was running out.

I like having the possibility of playing a certain type of character in different ways with different templates.

Sure make a few uber hard chests for you hard core guys but keep the core skill the same.

Yep, did it with all chests. Actually, I did most of the work on one of those uber rare "double skill gain" weekends. I made about half a million gold, too, so it wasn't a waste of time.

I GMed it by actually picking too. Khaldun can be a gold mine if you farm it! From 95-GM in Khaldun it took me 2 weeks I think, and I made over a mil. I remember I got a 110 taming PS from a puzzle chest early on, when those were worth a lot

But I would also like to see some changes. Outside of Khaldun, dungeon picking is worthless right now. Some good suggestions in this thread
