Lock picking the only way to open paragon chests?

No it won't be patched. NPCs have crushed chests forever.

ah, well you can't pick the last tier of paragons without being gm. pretty much solid on that. i misread at work, showing the nubbishness.
rotting corpse, titans, efreet, etc can't be picked without gm picking. if you need one done holler at me. yall have a good weekend

Yup. Even at 99.9 I couldn't open some paragon chests. It wouldn't even let me try. It just said "You have no idea how to manipulate this lock" or something. Then once I hit GM, I could attempt them. Even then the failure rate was low. I think it was a poison elemental paragon and a balron paragon chest (poison ele chest surprised me).

Actually poison paragon chest is only level 4, but it should be level 5 for how difficult they are to kill.

my bad then, i kinda remembered it was level 5 too

It should be, its the only spawn in a level 6 map that does not drop a level 5 chest. Pretty lame!

Does work. Good idea to drop chest in front of mob while under stealth tho. Done this many times (if I wasn't bothered about the colour of the chest). Best go somewhere quite, west of minoc moon gate for example. Plenty of ogres/ettins there to trample them down. Then u can just grab the contents while still remaining hidden.
