Launcher not a problem, game performance is.

Hello all, I've spent the last two days reading forums, guides and tutorials to try and figure out why my character can't walk 3 steps accross the screen without stuttering. Really wanting to play, but 2-3 days of trying to find a fix has just about used up my patience.

I've tried both Razor and Sallos. Sallos is slightly better, but not good enough. Not to mention all the confusion on all the extra stuff I'd have to do just to get things like a map, health bars etc... on the screen.

I'm using Windows 8, 64 bit with nVidia 960 video card, so surely that isn't the problem. I've uninstalled everything, and tried various methods of reinstall. Basically the game plays in both Razer and Sallos, it's just super choppy no matter what I try.

One other thing, I'm sure it isn't the UOF installer or patch as the game runs the same no matter what freeshard I've tried. I'm running in windowed mode, fully expanded and have tried the various resolution settings both in game and out.

Where are you playing from? If you are very far away with a poor connection it could just be bad ping, in which case there's not much you can do about it. You can check your ping by running cmd and typing ping login.uoforever.com. I think services like LowerPing and BattleNet offer some way to get a faster connection, though I'm not entirely sure how it works or which is good cause I've never had to use it.

Is your computer really old? Does it feel slow/sluggish running other games/programs? Is your hard drive almost completely full?

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. May think of more stuff later that might be the problem.

I had problems when I came to UOF because I was running a much high resolution in Windows and my mouse was an old junky one. I had a lot of skipping of my cursor and button relay issues that also translated to choppy movement.

Running as administrator will never hurt you if you aren't already.

Just got computer in December, it's an RoG gaming computer that's only used for games so hard drive is only about 15% full. Have 50 Meg internet from Time Warner which I don't love, but can't see it being the problem. I can run Diablo 3 and Star Wars The Old Republic both at same time in ultra graphics with no lag. I'm fairly certain it's not a computer or connection deficiency, it may be however some sort of set up problem.

I have a Razer Naga mouse that I use for all my gaming, I don't really think that would be the issue but ya never know I guess. Last night since UO is unplayable I bought Elder Scrolls to try out and was able to play it perfectly on ultra setttings so if it weren't for nobody else seemingly having this issue, I'd swear it was the server, but since I'm apparently the only one, it has to be somewhere in my files, where they are located or something in settings.

Do you have any type of network management program that alters your connection in favor of bandwidth/ping. If so turn it off.
