Yes, if they know how to, they will get you, except for the 4 middle squares in a 18x18 house.

A buddy on my old server worked out a way of making larger houses completely safe so you couldn't be killed in your home. He posted a guide on the old forums but the general gist of it was to surround your home in crafted stone ovens to block line of sight. He challenged the server to prove him wrong and as far as I remember no one was able to kill him inside.

Yup, I remember that thread. I seem to remember that he even tried it with a 7x7 house and it worked.

Yeah you're right! I think it limits you to only being safe in the central spot of a 7x7 though because you had to be 3 tiles away from any wall in every direction.
