Could someone please explain how to join a faction? I tried to join, and it says I do not meet the skill/stat reqs? i have 700 skillpoints and 225 stat points ...

Hmm. Don't know why you got that. Other than reqd points I think you have to 1. Be in a guild and 2. The guild leader must already be a member of the faction you wish to join. Could be wrong but I think that's how it works.

I'm having a difficult time finding information on factions in general. could I start my own guild and join a faction? How do the faction discount vendors work? I've looked through the main page and also the forums search feature and I can't find a whole lot of information. Thanks.

Yeah I'm not really familiar with how factions work honestly. You could make your own guild and do it that way, but you'd have to pay the guild fee of 25k to start one. Then once you're in the faction get in touch with other members and they can help you out. I think true Brits and shadow lords are the most active ATM. Maybe Minax too

Thanks for the information, Haly. What about the faction vendor stones; are these new? What kind of items are sold? Just curious I see them all over.

i have 700 skill point toons that can't join faction as well. my understanding is this is because there is a 5x GM requirement. the toons i mention are uoforever builds. i'd love to see this changed

^^This is correct and may be the OPs issue.

You do not have to be in a guild to join factions. But IF you ARE in a guild, you either need to leave the guild or the entire guild need to be signed up for factions.

Thanks again for the information. I just have one more question; are there other discounts on the stones? I read somewhere that you get a regeant discount from the faction stones; is this correct? I joined the Mage Guild for reg discount, then read somewhere that it's from faction stones? I have always wondered how people sell regs in such large quantities. It would be nice to be able to get bulk regs :)

There are two resource related topics that corresponds to factions.

1) Factions can place faction vendors in towns they control. These vendors sell a specific type of resource (Reagents, Ore, Mounts, etc) and at the base value for said items (price of an item before city taxes are added - hence the discount). These can only be used by that faction.

2) Factions (used to be able to) set the tax rate in a city they controlled. This allowed them to raise taxes in one city and lower them in another (maybe one they use as a base of operations).
