Or does most housing areas with custom houses and displayed junk everywhere resemble a trailer park.

I don't know if it's just this shard, or if my memory of UO has deteriorated over the years, but the landscape out there is pretty darn ugly in many areas. Like, when you first moved out of your parents house into your own, and decorated your first Christmas tree with every gaudy decoration your parents would never let you decorate with.
