IRC Issue

Trying to log onto chat I get the following error..

[22:50:08] Flash policy problem. If you are the server owner, please read http://redmine.lightirc.com/projects/lightirc/wiki/Flash_Policy_setup_instructions. You need to install a flash policy daemon at irc.lightirc.com (port 843).

Any help?

keep getting disconnected... tried connecting with IE and Chrome... getting this error on both..

That happened to me last night. I clicked on a link someone posted and got booted then it happened. I'm not sure it was just coincidental or not. But it cleared up after about 20 minutes and I was able to get back in.

For the record, this is not something that is in control of the staff here. The IRC server we use is a public server called Geekshed, They only have administrative privileges over the channel, not the server. It has a flash daemon policy which allows flash based IRC clients to connect to it, sometimes that flash daemon crashes and flash clients are unable to connect until it goes back up. A simple fix for this is to actually use a real IRC client like mIRC or something, since it is not flash based.
