In Desperate Need Of A Legendary Crafting Update.

@Shane you said that there were nearly 30 recipes that you guys had the ability to add. It has been over a year with the same 5 recipes. It is time.

Recipes actually sold for a little bit of gold but are now utterly worthless. They commonly drop from both champs and RDAs but ingredients only drop from champs. I throw the recipes on the ground.

It is time for an update. I was going to post some suggestions on different graphics and ingredients/recipes but I'm curious to see if we can get a little glimpse of what else you guys had in the works.

PvM received a ton of attention with meta pets and dexers. PvP received a ton of attention recently. Let's give crafter some love shall we?

@Adam @eppy @halygon for good measure.

Blaine also started a nice post in regards to some changes to slayers and magic weapons that was very interesting. Allowing us crafters to turn X amount of crap weapons into 1 decent weapon then X amount of decent weapons into 1 nice weapon and etc etc.

I think a nice legendary to have would be a slayer station for your house. Which has half the success rate of of the crafting area but no risk of thieves. So you are going to have to spend twice as much resources per success but know you are safe so the player would have to balance their comfort of risk vs reward.

Could also help stimulate miners and lumberjacks to come back out and get the market moving for ingots and wood.

On a non serious note: I want beetles to be able to mine with their mouths and always double smelt in their tummies!!!!!!! Best idea EVER!

I'd like to see more recipes that consume mass amounts of resources, driving the gathering market as you said.

Decorative stacks of scrolls that require 1k each scroll, obviously more recipes that consume stacks of logs/ingots, maybe even colored ingots? Recipes that require mass amounts of mined stone, etc.

If fun stuff that the stacks sell more often than the actual legendary items eh?

"Hi there would you like to buy this super legendary crafting item?"
"Nah but could you make me a stack of logs or ingots? Like 5 or so?"
Real convo with identities protected.

It is actually at least 8 recipes if you include the ship recipes that are utilized with carpentry.

I am one 120 tinkering PS away from being a 4x legendary crafter. I'm not sure if it is worth 1 mil to go all the way. I could get a soulforge that I have no place for and be able to craft 5 things with it that I will never find the pieces for without buying them from other players, be able to make slayer armor devices from crystal shards found at RDAs that I rarely find, and supposedly get a little bit more damage on trapped boxes that I never use. It is more of a "completionist" sort of thing at the moment, because all of the aforementioned advantages are not much of an incentive to buy 120 tinkering.

They're probably taking into account that most players are not legendary crafters, so this would only be for a small group of people, and thus not a high priority task. However, incentives for more players to become legendary crafters is always welcome.

All about those incentives.

The barrier to entry is pretty high, no argument there. All the more reason to make it worth the hassle for those putting in the work!

I just see nothing productive out of the current system. It's wait for maybe it will drop or I'll have enough gold to afford to make which leave little room for profit. Standing suits of armor take 500k+ depending on prices worth of materials. Who has sold a suit and for how much? Honestly. I can compromise and just get a different type of suit from the donation vendor.

I paid 2m for my first recipe, a silver suit of armor. Granted, I had the only existing suit of gold armor (Mushu drop) and was willing to overpay for the recipe because, like an idiot, I thought there would be a market for these things and I would be able to turn a profit eventually.

It didn't help that @noobs705 was a complete twelve year old and had his newly acquired guildmates Babethoven and old azz man bid the auction of the recipe up...had I known he joined POWER just days before the auction I wouldn't have given him a single GP. Doubly if I had known they were exploiting RDAs and had no business even getting rewards from them in the first place.

So, 9 months later I finally got around to making the suit of armor that I couldn't even change the orientation of and turned out to be facing the wrong way for my house design. I put the suit in a chest, forgot to lock down the chest, and will never craft another suit of armor again.

GG, legendary crafting, G fucking G.

On a related note Chime is currently buying a suit of armor, not sure what he is offering but at least one person is interested in a suit. Oh boy!

Sigh.

Maybe in the future. JoeB said he could help me if I found a south-facing suit. I found a south-facing suit but he said something about Adam needing to be involved, and potentially having to rework the creation process to allow the suits to have an orientation GUMP when placed instead of dbl click, target, and take what you get.

Never heard back. It's whatever at this point...

ughn, this really kills my motivation to get 120 Tink/Carp guys. Im hopefully that there will be some kind of bump to crafting that will make it all worth it in the end. Let's just start throwing out ideas in this thread. Instead of stating the problem and leaving it at that lets put some possible solutions out there as well!

This shard suffers from what I like to think of as "Everything has to be Uber rare and ridiculously difficult to obtain" syndrome.

I was stoked when I saw the Legendary Crafting System but then I saw you had to grind RDA's and Champ Spawns to get access to the system and immediately knew I would never get to try it out.

You want to increase activity in the crafting section, you gotta make it so more people can actually participate in the new content. Not just hardcore UO players who have the time to pound out RDA and Champ Spawns all day long.

You also have to have a thriving player base who actively want to log on and harvest resources.

As of right now the only reason to log onto UOF for PvM content is to Grind out experience for your Relics, Meta Pet or Grind away on RDA/Champ Spawns.

Multiple ideas have been thrown out over and over and over again.

Aside from the initial implementation which was handled by Carl and Adam, crafting has always kinda been the bastard child of UOF. Eppy might be the only staffer that has any drive for crafting and crafting related things.

Eppy you are our only hope!

I can barely move runic armor and slayer armor due to the fact no one wants to lose it. It costs a lot because it takes a lot to make. Now you can barely move BoD cloth.
