Playing now since the beginning of this server and registered today to make those suggestions because I have them in mind for now some time.
1) Players should be allowed to make 5 chars (AS NORMAL) OR be allowed to have at least THREE accounts.
Don't fool yourself with the current rule (I hope you know what I am indicating here). I suggest, ease it off a bit and both sides will benefit.
2) BLUE Players should be able to DAMAGE other BLUE PLAYERS. Examples:
- throwing explo pots
- casting blade spirits
- etc.
-etc.
Otherwise, this simply feels like trammel. Don't fool yourself, this is trammel stuff. Remove it for more fun and to keep it normal!
3) People should be allowed to open doors or enter HOUSES unless the DOOR is LOCKED.
-> Oh god, when I still have to shake my head how safe and soft this is becoming. I am not a PK, I have limited time available which I mostly with my worker.
4) Introduce Insta-Hit
- Use the good parts of old school Britannia. Don't ignore, at least introduce it for ppl who are not using a HORSE! That's put some refreshing action into the current PVP world. Trust me, it'll be awesome that way.
5) REMOVE MAGICAL WEAPONS and MAKE THEM RARE!!!! I repeat, make sure that the magical weps (e.g. power, vanq, etc.) don't drop in masses!!! PKs and PVPler run around only with those weaps, you destroy the use and spirit of SMITHS!!!
- Honestly, where are the days when a weapon of a blacksmith was something valuable and cool? Try to introduce that part to get people making weapons for each other. Don't let those folk farm solo / steal magic weaps... you loose action, wonder and a great spirit.
6) Intelligent Storymaking and Spiritmaking
What you need to try is to reintroduce this phenomenal feeling which existed when UO first came out. Don't flush the came with constant new rares and items. Don't flush it with 10000 new ideas. You don't need that. Developers/game designers so often believe that they have to deliver new stuff to keep players here. This is not the secret, it's an illusion. The pattern will be realised by players and it will all be a routine. What you need to do instead is to think about you YOU, creatively, use the CURRENT factors, to CREATE storys in the game, mysterious feelings. You think of events, but think more. If you don't know what I mean, I suggest you to find at least 10 old players, sit down with them and interview them. Try to understand the true causes of playing, the feelings which existed in the past and you may find what I am trying to tell you.
7) Make WORKERS more profitable, exciting, valuable. Give them a CAUSE for fun.
Not by increasing the difficulty of reaching GM skill. This would be stupid. You need to give use to them. For example, smiths could reach a reputation which will influence the power of weapons. If more players use it (by wearing them, holding them, etc.), the more the dmg of the weap and the better the reputation. Let workers create an emblem and use them. Create a worker bank and let money flow into it whenever something has been made. Let GM miners, smiths, etc. get a lord title immediately and forever. Let those people also wear much more weight (providing that at least 5x GM skills are worker skills). And as said, let player crafted items play a better role. This also includes the baker. Think of how this char can be made more useful!!! Increase the ARMOR rate of player crafted items.
8) Let Ghosts run faster.
Yes, ghosts should be able to run faster than usual. Think, this is needed. The poor nubs (so many of them) getting killed and spending too much time finding healers. Find ways to help them track healers too.
9) Create AUTO-BOTS / NPCs for dueling
Players should be able to train dueling and PVP by fighting in special arenas against different types of cleverly programmed NPCs. In those arenas, regs, etc. shouldn't be used - instead the player uses their current skills, arranges their own or freely given gear (armor, weaps), while pots/regs are freely provided - and then fighting/dueling begins (with horses or without). Players should be able to do this all day long and I suggest this strongly!!! Player should decide to receive tips after each fight (which the NPC noticed, for example, the time needed to respond to an attack and so on.
10) TAMING is easier
Let tamers have their strange overpowered animals, yep, but why not making it a bit more balanced. A little less powerful, a little less high.speed gold farming, a little easier to train.
11) BOUNTY: ADDITIONAL FACTOR
Players should be able to put any kind of bounty on a murderer, choosing the amount (his money) he/she liked to put on the head ranging from 0 to 1 bill gold). Once the head is given to the guard, this very player receive the bounty price. Blue Players whose job can be a bounty hunter (who need to have a required set of PVP skills to become one), should then also be able to TRACK current red players who are online and also see the bounties of them.
12) Poisoning: TWO-HANDED Weaps
Two-handed weaps should be poisoned too such as ARROWS. It's the same with the real world.
