I Am Enjoying These Laughably Overpriced Relic Selling Threads!

I would link the auctions here, but you all have seen them already. There have been a fair number of treads of overpriced relics lately.

In some cases the sellers end up letting them go to guildmates, which if they were really that interested they would have secured them already, but I digress. In the end I am sure they are sold at significantly lower than the listed price, one can only assume to artificially inflate the price of future relics.

Perception is not always a reality, and that holds very true for these sales, not to mention relic drops as a whole. More relics are making it to market, even if half of them end up staying within the guilds of sellers anyway. But of the half of the increasing number of sales that are legitimate, one can also assume that this is because more and more metas are filling up and the relics are no longer needed by the groups finding them so they are making it to market more frequently.

Some staff say that drops have increased, others say not. Which is actually happening? That is hard to say because there are many factors involved, but one thing is certain: seeing a lot or dumb shit on the forums lately.

I hate when players ask staff for privileged information. Just totally ruins the dynamic of a true barter system IMO. For instance when players ask staff how many of an item there are. Who cares? You either want the item, or you don't, plain and simple. Either everyone should know drop rates, formulas, or # in existence, or nobody should. Not just a select few. Stop using the page button for this kind of shit guys.

I've been guilty of overpaying more than my fair share over the last two years forsure... but I'll be #*$&ed if I'll every over pay for a relic.

Hence! http://www.uoforum.com/threads/quick-silver-or-molten-relic-paying-1-mil.52371/

It was awesome when @Bobby123 stepped up and sold me that bloody for 750K. That's what the things should be selling for anyways!!

It frustrates me more when they leak it in IRC but don't post it here! I feel like I'm always weeks behind on game changes cause I don't have IRC up 24/7.

Yeah it kinda sucks for the non power gamers when one or two people grossly overpay for their items and it sets the standard for the market.

I have overpaid for plenty in my time here but that should NOT have an impact on the market as a whole. Not everyone is as nutso as we are haha.

Capitalism is a strange and fluid thing. Is it what the market will bear? Or is it what the rich can afford while the poor starve?
Modern capitaism (that which destroyed the world economy and is trying to do it yet again) follows the latter path.
What the market will bear is not what a single buyer will pay. The greedy go after the big sale. The market is the entire base of those who can use a product, and you will make more selling to the masses than to the few (just ask the richest family in America, the Waltons who own Walmart). Problen right now is, those who farm the relics are selling to the few.
Could be there arent enoigh relics to accomodate the masses yet?

I suppose not, which is why there is a lot of talk about increased drop rate lately. I don't know if it's conjecture or just wishful thinking...

Well, I actually have stopped worrying about relics. I'm very happy with what the talisman does alone, and I've only just finished stage 5.
Don't need no fancy relic to start working up, to have it only do its thing sometimes, anyway.
especially for for 50kajillion golds.

Staff will not tell you how many of an item exists on the server. We just ignore those kinds of questions. Furthermore, if you ask them in the first place, you are more likely to be ignored in the future when you have legitimate questions.

A good way to make it to my get ignored in IRC list is to ask me about this kind of stuff.

I would ask how many adorable fat man are on the server, but:

1. I already know there is only one.

2. Everyone is already ignoring me.

There may be others, but surely you would be noted at the top of the list.
When I was 16, I was 6'1" and weighed a whopping 145 pounds. Now I'm.. well.. much older, lost an inch of height and gained.. well not quite 100 pounds ... yet...

We can't stress this enough.

Me, Joe, Eppy and Adam all have really noted to each other at different times of how bad some players are getting in trying to get inside information on spawns, special treatments, etc and over-all trying to use either our Skype, the forum pm's or Mirc used as a direct line for special requests like this when we have never done such things and never will. This ranges from players who threaten to quit if we don't replace items that they dropped on the ground by accident, to players who want to know when a donation item will be put back on the vendor again so they know if they should buy it from another player or not...

Try not to do it guys, same with paging in. Don't use the in game page system as your own automatic Wikipedia. 1/3 pages are simple pages asking for information that can be easily found within the community. My auto response to those is to confide into the community for that information, because that is ultimately what makes the community. Instead of paging in, ask in game, around banks, post on forums, post in mirc... That's what initiates and contributes to the community your wanting to be a part in.

EDIT:
As i made this post we just got a page of someone who dropped their sandals at the CTF by accident and wants us to replace them.

As you can see it is THAT regular we get pages/special requests like this.

I can imagine the requests for insider info gets pretty out of hand at times.

To be fair someone said (I got this secondhand) that Shane said drops have been increased. I have seen Adam say they have not.

What has actually happened with drop rates? Hard to say for sure, but again perception is not always reality.

I just want a stop to this price hiking madness. Competition drives prices DOWN and more relics are hitting the market than ever have before. That is the reality.

Use some fucking sense, people selling your relics! Basic economic principles are currently being trampled on.
