Alright, so here's my thoughts on this....
The spider is superior at certain things, the dragon is better at everything else. Much like a meta talismans vs tamers at certain champs. Meta mage outscores everyone at certain champs, where the dexer is superior at a couple, and tamers rule everything else.
The benefits to the spider are simple : poison. Top level poison ability = wrecks mobs that cant cure, or have lower magery. Also immunity to poison means I can leave this guy sitting in the middle of tera/dastard champ and focus on another toon for a bit, then come heal the spider a few times as it doesn't take a lot of damage and cant be poisoned......
As far as fun to play, yeah, its pretty fun to play. And for PvP, its not great vs mages or anything ranged, but dexers or other pets.....this thing rocks them.

dude ive hunted with essayons and his spider is like maxxed out it is a beastttttt bro. seen it take 2 ballys like no ones buiness. i would love to have a spider, i know they are like gold drains but wat the hell else to i spend my gold on??? shiny clothes that say blessed but dont do anything but look cool rofl. i mean at least ur puttin ur money into something that is getting stronger and can help be stronger player in general towards spawn.. also i have good connections on powerscrolls i can get em for u 30k all day in most cases. matter of fact i have 2 i can give u at a cheap price.

so i ask AGAIN, why so far has 90% of the the max level spiders went up for sale?
is it that a 4 slot pet cant take on another 4-5 slot pet?
we compare it to 2 or 3 slot pets....
so a dragon/steed could crush a spider in pvp/pvm
i feel like there was some behind the scenes tweaking of these pets and now owners are not happy seeing end game is not what it once was???? any comment on this comment?
dont get me wrong, i own a spider myself, i watch the forums/irc/discord like a hawk.

I asked the same question about Gong, I have a level 5 spider currently almost level 6, and have had no negative thoughts about it since, it's strong, can do most content at level 5. So I'm really just curious now about the same thing you are, why are people selling them.
