To be fair, he wasn't wrong. Lots of promises were made and not delivered on. All staff has recognized this and it was a kick in the ass we needed.
He is a mod in discord. He helps a lot of people in discord and answers a lot of questions. Being affiliated to a specific guild doesn't mean a thing. What do you (and others in this thread) think he can do now that he couldn't do before that might be abused? He literally has little to no power to do anything that will impact anyone or anything in a negative way.
There ALOT of people who help others in discord. You choose someone who lashed out at staff mult. times and is affiliated with a troll/scumbag guild.

And I know it's just Disco but being displeased that Salsa has any power or authority over another person (in any capacity) is reasonable.

i have seen many people call out staff on what isnt being done and in the end it usually is ignore or deleted or locked or temp/banned.
Might I suggest rather complaining about someone getting a relatively low position of authority that you don't agree with, you instead bring forth names of people you feel would be suited to help with moderation.
Unfortunately the forums and discord have more filth thrown at them than can be cleaned up half the time and having a greater number of moderators who can be held accountable would mean the higher level staff can focus on the game and not what name x person just called y person.

I agree that the people given the positions need to be held to account. It is much easier for someone to manage 10 mods then 1000 users. The question of whether any certain current mods are abusing their power I can't really comment on as I don't follow discord very closely.
Sadly if those in power are basically cheating or abusing their powers it is a sure way too eventually drive a server into the ground.
(Unfortunately accusation are thrown around like candy and it makes it very hard to know who is legit and who is just making it up because they're angry.)

For something like discord mod I don't see why not. Have someone who has a full log of everything. Including deleted / edited posts. Then if someone makes a complaint with time frame and forum it can be reviewed and appropriately followed up on.
(As to who to put in charge of being a mod to the mods I've got no clue because it would probably be a full time job).

Pretty sure anyone who hangs out in discord regularly has already seen rules being selectively enforced, or new rules being created because certain behavior is only considered problematic if it affects certain people.
Ultimately I don't care that much because Trump Sosaria love it or leave it just a game etc, but... I do think it's unwise to concentrate staff/moderation power in one guild, because people are going to be biased toward their buddies no matter how hard they try to be neutral. It's just human nature.

Moderators have very little power other than in Discord. They aren't in staff meetings. EQMS is a large guild. It's bound to happen. But just about every large guild is represented either on staff or people who are moderators. But either way, moderators have no power in game. Discord moderators have no power on the forums (unless they happen to be both).

Sometimes EQMS is a large guild sometimes they barely have 7 user online.

A lot of people were banned on discord/forums because they mentioned how promises weren't delivered on - from booty island, nobby, and this "Kingdoms" that is proudly displayed at the top of the forum banner among other things.
Feels like North Korea sometimes, I'm shocked this thread is still running.
If he's only a mod, I don't really mind, unless he is one of those ban happy PC females that squelch anything against their beliefs.
If you do not trust the personal staff choices me and my team make, which are the exact same choices we've consistently made over the last 4 years which resulting in getting us here today so you could make this ridiculous post- You can just log off, and never, ever come back to UOForever.
It's nothing personal, we just don't need to be told how to run things from a player who is basing their entire opinion from their own personal in game point of view while being completely ignorant to every single other fact.....
When i pick staff, i'm not going to lie.... i never even give a shit what guild they are in what so ever.
I see all of you as a name and an individual. I do not relate each person to what guild they are in, and thank goodness i don't.
We wouldn't have the incredible staff we have on this day if i did do that.
The people who are trying to speak out here on who we hire are going off of their personal in game experiences with that person or the guild that the person is in. The reality is none of that even matters, and i don't give a shit about it. I care about what positive things they can do for Ultima Online Forever's community and its longevity. I really don't give a shit what dramatics happen in game, if they have pk'd tons of newbies, or if they are in a zerg guild that isn't liked....
What DOES matter is that i believe they can contribute to making this community a better place in the long run for not only the same people complaining about this, but everyone as a whole.
I should add this hasn't even been stated fully yet, and it's interesting how rumors and crap get spread so quickly which ultimately should tell you all to be aware of the echo chamber that can happen within this community from time to time.
