great game. but pked alot... suggestion

The elaborate mechanics that get suggested always amuse me, but frighten me also.

The mechanics to deal with pks are already in the game. Its just that it takes effort and thought to do it.
I guess my issue is primarily with the Valor system. I mean, what the fuck does it actually do besides give titles?

I don't know what the big deal is about pks... I haven't been pk'd in over a month (haven't even SEEN a pk in that long) and I make more $$ than any joker farming in a dungeon....

It's called FISHING!

More reason to have a title for top 3 from each Valor/bounty boards give both sides something to Aim for could even increase pvp as a whole some people love flashy titles.

Yea def needs fixing first to prevent people killing an alt or the same unlucky guy over and over.
 
i dont mind getting pked... i fight back and sometimes win. heres the issue. just about everytime i suit up and go out gold farming, i see a huge pk to innocent player ratio in the dungeons. I love the throwback and the thrill without trammel... thats not my issue. penalties for pking is not high enough. Im engaged in fighting monsters... and wam im dead from a pk because i see one every 5 minutes. pks just own the world outside of the towns.
Make penalties for murdering more severe.

pks in ultima forever are wayyyy to comfortable and i think that takes away from the magic of the game. I work a full time job and litereally dont want to play much because I see way to many comfy pks running around.

Trust me, 48 hours is a big penalty.

Sure, there are plenty of horrible pks (the majority of reds, like the majority of pvpers here (blues/factioners)) - and these guys give the good few of us a very bad name.

What you don't realise is many of the pks are the only source of pvp for many players on UOF. Grinding monsters non-stop gets boring, we all do it, but we need stimulation, if it wasn't for my guild champ spawns would be un-contended.

Now when you get pvpers such as myself who are red, we develop a bad notoriety on the shard - mainly for owning your ass and outsmarting you, thus on the odd chance i die, most people will instant stat me - and trust me, it isn't the pvmers, it is the 'blue pvpers' who called in a ridiculous force and want to instant stat cause they generally get their ***** stomped 9/10. Every now and then i instant die to a tamer, some are nice, others aren't regarding statloss.

On my blue tamer (the only char of mine that has some pvp skills that isn't red), i don't stat reds unless they played poorly - i.e a 2v1 turned into a 3-5v1 etc, or i know their zerg guild plays like wounded dogs on their ganking blues. But, otherwise im nice.

As for the work comment - lol, if i told you my profession you might understand, but i'm 6 days a week, i'd like to play more but can't fit it in my schedule. Killing monsters undisturbed is easy as piss, i generally go to the main spots - bloods/titans cause i enjoy the challenge of a newb red zerg. If i die, who cares? im blue and lost 5k?

EDIT - fyi i have 5 pks (2x alchy dexers - jenny jugs, took your crap, 3x stun/heal mages - hosed your chick, gay and emo, chick on the rag), every time 1 gets statlossed it affects my gameplay, and i'll adjust my acceptable risk in pvping.

And if these reds you speak of are no good 1v1.... then if you were to bash monsters with 1 other buddy, wouldnt you stomp their ass? then get the satisfaction of defeating your enemy, the gold from your monster and his/your items?

IMO, you are just a scrub piece of shit who totally sucks at UO and wants the devs to change the game so you can bash in trammel to be honest...

But tbh 48 hrs is along time i dont play a red much anymore but the way i see it statloss is to prevent them returning over and over wouldn't say 12 or 24 hrs do that just as well and not not stop that red playing for to long

He is right reds are everywhere. when i go out to farm i always get Pked, sometimes i get away with recall macro set most time i get killed. Anyway thats my 2 cents. Later

Actually we are trying to help you new people learn to survive instead of coming on the forums to cry everytime your dumb ass gets killed for being dumb and doing dumb shit.

Don't fucking cry about this shit and constantly make threads "too many pks" and then ignore the very solid advice that has been given in exactly every single one of these stupid threads.

I know you're not raging. Just know that we have had to answer posts like this 35,000 times in our UO life. So it gets repetitive for us. No harm, no foul just be quick with the eyes and constantly scan the screen if you can catch that red name quick enough you can always escape. Especially if you have protection up.

The goal of the majority of PKs is to ruin the experience of other players. It is exactly why Trammel was created back in the day with UO. Don't believe me..then go read Raph Kosters website about the player loss that was occurring pre-trammel and the failure of the dev team to adequately address PKs and player griefing in general. Trammel saved UO..at least from a "staying in business" sense.

And like Raph said..the hope was the community would address the problem..including the PK community ...but this did not happen.

Having the dev team here nerf the penalties is not helping.

PK's need to get some class in their acts AND penalties need to be stiff but...I don't think statloss is the answer. The punishment for killing players and getting caught should be a loss of the ability to kill players.

A red gets head turned in.....you lose the ability to initiate combat with any blue player for 60 hours of game time, which has to occur outside of a house. If you die during this time nothing additional penalty wise occurs. You are fully attackable by anyone.

Now the red can get all the PVP they want and maybe will get to be the victim a few times.
