Gold Sink Idea - Tombstone/Gravestone --> Insert Name

I am sure a lot of us know people that used to play Ultima Online over the years - but they passed away.

I would like a "gold sink" tombstone/gravestone that can be purchased for "X" gold... and when double clicked upon - you can add someone's name to it.. for example "Here lies Silly Santa, Ultima Online Gamer and Friend" .. or something similar to that.

In addition - this would be an item that can be locked down at someone's house.

I think its a win for staff - cause it can help remove gold off the shard... but also a win for staff and the players in regard to us being able to honor fallen Ultima Online players.

Maybe staff could set up a donation box at WBB where each player can contribute towards it and then staff can place it somewhere (maybe in one of the graveyards?) Or just skip the goldsink part of it entirely and ask staff to place a shrine or something in a designated area, similar to WoW's Shrine of the Fallen Warrior.

This idea has been suggested on numerous shards I've played. I suggested it as staff to the other staff on dfi.
Unfortunately I've never seen it implemented for whatever reason.
Although I think I saw it on one or two shards when scoping them out.

It's a good idea, no real downside. Let ppl immortalized their fallen uo friends on uo.

Maybe make it so once the wording has been etched you can't change. Would hate to see someone get a memorial item at an idoc and change the name.
Would be cool to have even as regular deco though. I imagine there would be a ton of here lies EGOR 's or EQMS is dead stones :)

Would have to be pricey, and walk throughable.
You just know some jerk is gunna abuse the crap out of this 50 with "LOL GET OWNED, NUB" graveyard stones outside someones house.
Like the idea just needs to be done right.

Can be good for people who quit etc too.

Could do it so that a staff member has to do the final approval on it before it gets placed. That way, no jerk can place something stupid on one.

1. Buy the kit in town somewhere to place a tombstone. (1 million gold)
2. When clicked, a box opens up and asks what the person wants on the tombstone.
3. It is a ticket to an admin person to approve the tombstone saying.
4. Once admin approves the saying the tombstone is placed in the bank of the player.

Makes sense if people are allowed to place them on the ground to have very major restrictions. What about if we start with ones that are lock downs in players houses like a smaller version of vet reward ankh's ?

As long as the price is reasonable , but set high enough to the point where players wont abuse this ... I think it would be a win-win for the community and staff. Please note though that this idea was originally based on it being an item that can be locked down at the players house - and not anywhere in-game on grass/fields whereas people can abuse it this particular way.

I like this idea.

Why not just make a graveyard area somewhere in the woods. This could be the only place where tombs could be made. One could buy a plot and enter the name and then the tombstone/name would appear. If a graveyard area is made, there will be no abuse about gravestones set down in front of people's houses. Then we could all go to the graveyard and mourn our friends together!
