I don't know enough about the game to know what the food should do but I agree that food, and therefore GM cooking, should have some nice perks associated with it. Maybe X bonus to food, Y bonus to the food depending on your cooking skill. Stat food that you yourself can eat. stat food that your pets can eat . Maybe pet treats, a legendary version that gives a x minute "phoenix" type buff to the pet where if it dies it incurs less or no stat loss since I see tamers complain about that a lot. Make the ingredient difficulty be commensurate to the level of how OP that would be (like I said, I don't know just suggestions.)
I like this idea. I posted something once about letting GM chefs make sushi from the aquarium, with some small mana generation effect or something. Also, certain foods good build stats slightly faster. For example, fish for INT, meat for STR, or the like. Maybe some foods could offer temp skill gain too, but nothing that's gonna effect PVP, maybe just non-combat skills.
I meant it for all skill gains, but yea, now that I see it, cooking random skill gain food would be great. Sort of crafting random ss-like item, but skill gain bonus instead of skill point. Maybe have tiers of food with skill gains, like 5,10,15,20%, that have certain special ingredients required, so chef can choose how much "special" his food will be. It would open up market for both special ingredients and resulting products, and give use for "useless" skill.
This might even give use to taste id skill - ingredients dropped from mobs/harvested by char with taste id would be unknown, and could be identified only by person with tongue most sensitive to tastes. All hail combat chefs, heh..
Good thing my char already has gm taste and cooking.
They has some ideas they started but didn't continue with, brewing has one recipe that is unique. You can cook brains and human jerky. Then there is nothing.
Yea, I made a cook for braaaaainz too.. There are lots so called "useless" skills that I'm fan of, these could use much love.. Begging for example. I love begging, but 1) skill takes aaaawful time to GM, and 2) it's been a while since I snooped npc shopkeepers, but last time none of them had any money..
