Giant event.

My take on the event so far.

Cast eq from a boat a bunch on my tamer. Pirates sank me. Boated mobs. Sailed away. Cast 8 eq. Boat deleted. Got given an invulnerable boat I didn't know was invulnerable. Pirates try to sink me. Pirates reported. Boat deleted. Switched to my dexer because I knew the staff was going to watch for "exploiters".

Grind a shit ton of event score.

Guards get turned off. I've seen a few pks. Haven't died. Pked a few people there.

Overall it's been a great event. The guards being turned off haven't affected too much. Instead of tons of newbies farming at the bank.

Lots of grind. Lots of meta dex exp.

The fact people think this is a tamer only event are wrong. The top ten has meta mages. Meta dexers. Meta tamers. Dex Provos.

I've been using an exc repond kat with npc bought leather repond armor since guards have been off. I can stand toe to toe with any of the mobs except ogre Mage paragons.

Written from my phone so probably typos and stuff. Probably missed a bunch of shit.

im sure I will add to this as we go.

nerd overlord was using 3 different characters and spent days luring mobs simply to level his meta talisman and for macro people this event is a godsend, really its just jealously, all of these guys worked really hard to exploit the loopholes that are naturally there, nothing different than real life, the plebs are gonna ***** when those that work harder than them achieve stuff

Most points are being made out side of Vesper by lured mobs at intentionally set up farm banks without any fear of the NPC becoming smart and walking off or throwing something at the people. NPC AI is working in favor of point farmers.

If someone really wanted to do a set up luring everything they need for points anywhere on the map they will and do.
In game and out I've been hearing nothing, but a negative reaction to this whole event for various reasons. The weight of the negative is still over the positives and that should be addressed. I look at what is posted and see people being a lot more harsh than I was to be banned. There's a major issue. Listen to the community.

I fucked around a little with the event on my stealther and found lots of fresh lootbags to pillage, plenty of gold and slayer gear.

Played for an hour or so on my pvm char and had fun working with a couple of rando warriors as I provod big games of mobs onto eachother and they tore through them without having to use up refreshes.

Couldn't participate this weekend (gymnastics meet Saturday, wrestling meet Sunday), but it sounds like it was sufficiently bloody/chaotic.

Everyone crying about point farming is just sour grapes IMO. Like uh, no fucking shit people are going to find ways to max their point score, has there ever been an event where people didn't?

It's clear there's a number of people who were looking to throw shade on the event, drinn, and staff from the beginning because of in game/forums politics. It's pretty easy to dismiss their concerns IMO.

Only thing I would change for the event is the scoring:

1. No public leaderboard, and I'm questionable of having people even see their own scores. I'd say no scores visible until end of the event.

2. Diminishing returns, based off of daily points. Easiest way to close the massive gap in scores between normal people and UO obsessed poop-sockers. Those who get top score by grinding as a full time job will still get top score, but people who do it casually (but consistently) will be able to get higher tier rewards as well (not necessarily 'top' tier rewards).

karl, a solution to your #2 would be that everybody gets one reward and different rewards become available at different point values. that way the top players will have access to better/more rare rewards (maybe reward packs if no single item is sufficiently worthy), but somebody with 50 million score can't simply buy 100 of what the person with 500k score can get.

I totally approve of luring some mobs off to fight from a boat. Have you guys ever tried to fight against ANY even halfway decent monsters in front of other people on this server before? For the most part I try to stay off people's nuts when they are engaged in a monster they are capable of killing. Most other people i've seen, especially tamers, Fuck no, all up in your grill. ;)
I get it, I get it rare loot drops. But if anything seems like people doing regular fighting and farming will get more loot and gold in between. Then say somebody on a boat just casting all day for event points, to me it seems to even itself out on that level, perhaps not.....

Vanity pixels, lots of vanity pixels, PIXELS that one day shall decorate ones home creating a sense of awe and envy. Some pixels might well transfer hands, transfer using methods only a thiefling will know and once more, the message boards of Forever will be filled with cries of despair, nerf and real life accusations of 'what one does in-game, reflects what one does in real life' *must be a lot of murderers and dragon tamers in real life also....*

could also do unlock tier points. so like the list of items is out from the start, so you know what to reach for. When you get that number of points you can actually get the items mid event while farming for the next items up.

Haha @Deadpool Never actually had a tamer. But, ever try taming one of those Great White Buffalo?? Man you can catch em, but good luck keeping em. ;) Something about free spirit and all that jazz. ;)

Call bullshit on spending days to set up. Unless he knew what was coming. What he did only worked when the special mobs changed to a type that didn't throw anything. I give credit to him for figuring out a method to continually earn points casting EQ on the magma trolls without killing them since they Regency health quick.
