Fishing Questions

I was about to kick someone's ass, but it turns out after a couple of hours serpents do actually appear.... so fishing isn't quite as worthless as begging.

So, I get my hides, get my scales. First question is, what do I make with these? I have a GM tailor, but how do I use this leather? It won't let me cut scraps?

Second questions, what do I do with scales? Are they like dragon scales and can my blacksmith make things with them?

Finally, do I need a cartographer to use a sextant, or can I just buy one, and what can I expect to fight difficulty wise? I can solo a serpent with my fisherman using nothing but his magery, but not sure what to expect if I try and bring up sunken treasure. Any help is awesome.

Fishers fit better with archery to kill serpents.
It can be quite annoying to fish, it's very randomly, you can get 5 mibs / hour or 0 mibs in 2 hours. I recommend you to invest and get 115 fishing asap, it's worth the price and you will experience an increase on spawned serpents.

Fishing is not the best farming way, but it is a way of farming in where you can do it secure, it will be hard to be raided by PK's. but you need to stack bottles first because it's not worth to sail for 3 mibs.

About leather, the quality is not quite good, you can use it to train Tailor over 100. ABout scales, it is a blacksmith raw material that let you manufacture dragon scale armor.

About a cartographer, it is not needed, if you are fishing Mibs you only need your fisher with archery and resist, if you go to find mibs out of the sea (chest), you need a second char, preferable Provo/peace bard with magery to heal your fisher when the deep water elementals appear. A tamer would be ideal but not everybody have the time to train a 100 taming and bond dragons =)

So I've successfully done two chests from a shipwreck with my lame provo/mage fisherman. First time I provod deep sea ele on the sea ele and then EV'd it. Next time I provod it on the sea serpent that spawned then EV'd it. I'm gonna have to say it's not all that bad of a build I don't think, since I don't need a whole posse to fish or a bunch of pets to worry about.

You can certainly make a solo fisherman without bringing someone else. Although traveling with others can prove entertaining and provide a bit of insurance against pirate crews.

Fishing is, and by far, the best money making PVM activity. Here's how it works.

First, you can buy mibs around 2k each. You make around 10k net profit if you do so. You can buy 100-300 mibs and start fishing chests. DO NOT USE A SEXTANT. You need to sort the SOS into chests. 100 mibs per chest, sorted in 10 different bags. Bag 1 is SOS 1-10. Bag 2 is SOS 11-20. Etc.

You create a new label that you call "1" in UOAM with the coordinnate of the first MIB. Then you create a new label for every other MIB and respect the order in your bags/chests for other labels.

Once you entered 100-300 MIB coordinates in UOAM, your map is going to be filled with chests ready to be fished. You can then go to a city around which there are a lot of SOS and fish an average of 8-12 chests per hour.

Once you fish a lot of junk, you'll get a chest, guarded by a water elemental and a deep water elemental. The deep has 1k hp and casts spells. It's strong. Provoke it onto the lesser one, and kill it fast with your archer fisher that carries an elemental ban or water dissipation bow. Disarm the chest, sort the trash on a corpse using organiser agent (thanks @Messremb) and put the chest into your pack beetle.

One your beetle is full, drop the chests at home, lock them down, and recall back to your boat (you can use the recall spell on your boat key).

Once you have 20-30+ chests (or when you reached the maximum lockdown of your house) start sorting the loot in chests using organiser agents again. One chest for weapons, another one for armors, a chest for reags and gems. Keep the green nets, they're worth 250-500 gp per. Once in a while, you will find a special colored net that can be sold several tens of thousands gp (as a deco item).

Sell every magic weapon that isn't power +20 or invul + to the smith NPC. Bank that gold too.

Go back to fishing.

If you insist on fishing your own mibs, you can create 2 fishers and your 2 alt accounts. Use a macro to fish serps, and you'll only need to pay attention to your fisher once the macro fished and killed a serpent to loot it. You'll find mibs, nets and lvl 1 maps on the serpents. You can usually fish 2-5 mibs per hour per fisher, so with 2 fishers it's 4-10 mibs per hour, and you do it semi-afk so you're all free to play on your main account while you do so.

Use your main account to farm gold with your bard or tamer for maximum profit.

The only time fishing can be "hard" is when you fish Osiredon (115 taming + required) or Leviathan (from fableded - pure white - fishing nets you get in the chest you fish with ancient mibs). Osiredon replaces the water ele from time to time while fishing a regular mib. It's strong. Provoke it onto the deep see ele and try to kill him asap. For leviathan, it'll spawn with a lot of surrounding mobs. A tamer on the boat will help but if it spawns with enough deep water ele, your fisher provo archer will deal with it easily (since you can provoke onto new eles after one died).

The best fishing template imo is :

115/120 fishing (for osiredon)
Archery
Tactics
Anat
Healing
Lockpicking
Hiding

I dropped healing on my fisher cause I dual client with the tamer so it's useless and I added carto so I could do tmaps too.

You can also consider resist instead of hiding.

I usually make around 150k per hour while fishing. On my best fishing run ever, I made 1.4 mils in a few hours.

Where can you buy so many mibs? Thanks!
