Extended Young Status

Seeing as I could not comment on the previous thread I am forced to make a new one. The thread started out with reasons why "Young" status should be removed entirely and then moved in to RDA and Champ spawns specifically. I couldn't disagree with you more. If you want this server to last another three years you will need to improve your young status. As someone who found this server with a group of other "come back to the game 15 years later" players we were VERY pleased with the content additions etc. Macroing has allowed you to fall asleep and raise your characters skill points to GM in a few days. At which point you lose your young status. Which is where the tomfuckery begins. As a new player only being back for a week or so, I in no way, have control enough over my character to even fully begin fighting monsters, much less 20 reds from EQMS. Or the slew of other people from other guilds who just hide and take your loot. How do the staff expect to carry on for years to come when a large portion of the new player base quits because they can not even learn to play the game over time. (Not a random thought, I have spoken with many former players who have either quit long ago or recently) You are basically thrust into the arena with no knowledge, no help, and no mercy. The problem that I see is that this server is overwhelmingly zerg based pvp. While this is not an issue with a Veteran player who is used to it, its a HUGE issue for a new player. I have one choice, and one choice only. Join or suffer. Its basically forcing that type of play style on me. To stress again that I am in no way against it, it just seems to be such an issue that there is no choice. I feel forced to force my friends to come with me and all of us eventually get exceedingly overwhelmed by sometimes 4x or 5x as many reds as us (never less than double) or a single red will just aggro the entire area and then bring them all to us. My suggestion is to give the new players and extended Young Status. As in maybe an hour or so each day that they can have some sort of protection to be able to leave and get a feel for the game before being forced into doing nothing because if you leave the protected area you only have 15 min or so to breath before being drowned in reds. Now I dont mean that everyone should get an hour forever, but just new young players that have recently lost the full on "young status". Maybe for a couple weeks. I believe someone stated that people are using youngs to cheat. Even someone such as myself who just came back can tell that no matter what server you go to, cheating is a way of life for many. The games servers are LITTERED with cheaters in various shapes or forms. As a side note I didn't even know what RDA's or Champs were until I read the last thread about Young Status. I had 0 clue that I shouldn't be there in the first place much less where it is. So these are just my suggestions as someone that has tried this server and ultimately left because I couldn't even play on it because I was dead half the time, and not by 1v1's, mostly 1v10's to only be rez killed repeatedly. Fix the young issue, or lose an already dwindling player base.

You get like 60 hours of in-game time for [young] status, which is 60 more hours then you got back in 1998. More then enough time to "figure things out". This isn't World of Warcraft, there is a learning curve.

Macroing has allowed you to fall asleep and raise your characters skill points to GM in a few days. At which point you lose your young status.
If you are still "learning" why did you gain enough skill points to lose the [young]? You get 500 skill points to play with before losing the [young].
Sword
Tact
Anat
Heal
Total - 400 points
Plenty of ability to farm monsters with this build. Throw in Lumber Jacking, then you can swing an axe with +40% dmg.

Fix the young issue, or lose an already dwindling player base.
Where are you getting these numbers from?

Now I dont mean that everyone should get an hour forever, but just new young players that have recently lost the full on "young status". Maybe for a couple weeks.
You mean those that goofed and "accidentally" over macro'd and pre-maturely lost their [young] status before they were ready to lose it. Make another account then, you get 3, each with a 60 hour 500 skill point limit. If you cannot "figure it out" within 180 in-game hours...probably not the game for you then.

World of Warcraft is EXCEEDINGLY more difficult. If you havnt played the end game content then you wouldnt know. If you have then you should know that a SMALL portion of their community can actually complete the content. 10v1 does not require skill. Back in 1998 there were tram and fel to chose from on each shard so there was a built in system to control all of my above statements.

Your template once again forces me into a particular play style. What if I never want to be melee? Where is this suggestion elsewhere.

Ask around on other forums, shards, etc if you feel that I am just making these numbers up. Do your own research before questioning mine.

Start a new account? LOL.

(taking a page from @Bobby123) LAWLS The hell it was. Cookie cutter quests that say "Go here and kill 15 of these, we'll count them for you as you kill them and point you to where the next ones are." Made it to end-game content Horde and Alliance through all the x-pacs except the most current one. The hardest thing about WoW was the stun lock rouge in the battle-grounds. That got nerfed into shit after a year.

Die in a dungeon in WoW? Walk (actually run as you get a speed boost while dead) to the dungeon enterance and rez...with all your loot
Die in the field in WoW? Release your ghost and rez at a graveyard...with all your loot
Player kills you? Rez with all your loot
Monster kills you? Rez with all your loot

Nope, that came later, closer to 2000.

Range Combat
Mage
Eval Int
Med
Wrestle

Range Combat
Archery
Anat
Tact
Heal

Non-Combat - (for what it's worth, this is the starting template I used, non-combat resource collector)
Lumber Jacking
Carpentry
Tinkering
Mining
Black Smith

Start a new account? LOL.
You get 3 per IP address. Next time @the flube is streaming, you should watch. They (he/she/it) 3 account like the best of them and are the reason I have 3 myself.

Your research is based off another server's forum saying UO:F is dying? Of course they are going to say that about their biggest competition, that's the "Don't play there, their player base is dying" classic marketing ploy.

I'm new, and I felt this way for the week after I lost my status.

I thought about the possibility of an intermediate farming place, and thanks to a really kind person, I was shown one. He showed it to me, and gave me a rune to it.

Go wander with minimal items and mark runes to hunting grounds outside in the world.

There are cemeteries that work well, along with orc areas, etc.

I think the root of the problem is poor documentation on the wiki. A few wiki pages that have a guide on your first few weeks would be amazing. A better map would be a good start.

Another thing that might help is an optional title that you can set for the first month after young status. Some people might see that and be more willing to help.
